I Received this email this morning. I checked my VIN and it is not included.:
Your vehicle MAY be involved in a safety recall and MAY create a safety risk for you or your passengers. If left unrepaired, a potential safety defect could lead to injury or even death. Safety defects must be repaired by a dealer at no cost to you.
Why am I getting this email?

You are receiving this message because you requested to be notified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) if there is a safety recall that may affect your vehicle.
The following may apply to one or more of your vehicles if your vehicle is listed below. Click on the NHTSA Recall ID Number below to read more about the safety issue and the reason for the recall.
To find out if your specific passenger vehicle is included in the recall, use our VIN Look-up Tool.

If the VIN look-up on the NHTSA website says your vehicle is not covered by the recall, I'd hold onto the letter and show it to the service writer next time you go to the dealership. They can look up your VIN in Ford's computer system and give you an accurate response as to whether or not the recall applies to you.

I think I'd rather Ford over-notify about recalls than under-notify.

I'm amazed at the massive number of Ford and Lincoln safety recalls (and massive number of vehicles involved).

They've had so many the past few years and the poor quality continues involving many models.

Anyone care to venture a guess when Ford will be able to get a handle on their safety recalls?

I'll be cynical and say that will happen when they shoot the accountants and let the engineers start running the place again. I also don't think that will happen since without the accountants, the engineers will only drive the prices higher than they are now.

Searching online for "what is Ford doing about quality" reveals comments from Jim Farley, Ford CEO, along the lines of "The Ford chief has made fixing the automaker's quality problems a priority since he took the helm in October 2020. Since then, Ford has hired a new executive director of quality and transformed some of its production practices to avoid errors, but has still topped the industry in number of recalls." Supposedly, Ford's internal quality metrics show they've made a 10% improvement in 2024. That doesn't help Ford customers who have vehicles older than that.

I had this and they mailed me the warning and called me and made me agree that I had put it in my glove box. I think I might have had to sign a paper and mail to them. I was like **** here with this Ford.

I am not where i can look at ours right now, but it seems like we should not have to look up our VIN, we can just look at the dash and see if we have the label. Anyone able to post a picture of theirs so we know where and what to look for? It seems to me that they are on the visor, right?

FMC sent a label to put over another label maybe a year ago. I came across it days ago and stuck it on. Seriously, this is exactly why America needs DOGE. We pay government "workers" to come up with this crappola.

Google the top 10 auto companies for recalls in 2023 .... All the big players are included and when you have more vehicles out there on the roads (FOMOCO #1) you're gonna have higher numbers compared to the others. Not an excuse for quality issues ...I wonder how a missing decal is a safety issue needing a national recall. Send the decal out via certified mail and leave it up to the consumer.

If the decal relates to a safety feature that the manufacturer has been required to provide, then NHTSA has a mandate to require a recall to make sure the decal correct and is applied.

Send the decal out via certified mail and leave it up to the consumer.
The problem is that many consumers will throw the envelope in the trash and never apply the decal. However, in this case, it appears that Ford is, in fact, mailing the label.

From the recall notice:
Number of potentially involved: 27,678 across Explorer, Aviator, Escape, Corsair, F-150, Expedition, and Navigator product lines.

Description of the Noncompliance: The dashboard airbag warning label was not installed on vehicles exported to US Territories. As such, these vehicles do not comply with FMVSS 208 Section4.5.1(e) Labeling and Owners Guide Information.

Description of the Safety Risk: A missing airbag warning label can lead to a lack of customer awareness of the airbag system and its deployment in the event of a crash; and can potentially hinder the customer's understanding of the airbag system functionality, increasing the risk of injury.

Description of the Cause: The dashboard airbag warning label was incorrectly released in Ford’s engineering release system for certain export markets.

Description of the Remedy Program: Ford will mail owners the dashboard airbag warning label. Dealers will inspect unsold vehicles and install the required label, as necessary. Ford provided the general reimbursement plan for the cost of remedies paid for by vehicle owners prior to notification of a safety recall in May 2023. Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense may be eligible for reimbursement, in accordance with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA.

Description of Recall Schedule: Notification to dealers is expected to occur on December 16, 2024. Mailing of owner notification letters is expected to begin December 16, 2024 and is expected to be completed by December 20, 2024.
