I recently installed the Rough Country 3/2 lift and I'm curious what rear struts others used with this kit. The Bilstein are highly recommended in here, but did those who did this combo keep the spacers from RC in the strut with or did you remove the spacers and utilize the native Bilstein adjustable lift to get your truck where you wanted to be?

Thanks!

You can do either or

- Keep the spacer and set the Bilsteins to stock level
- Remove spacer and set the Bilsteins up to top notch.
That makes sense to me. I appreciate the response. I was hoping there were folks who had done each and maybe why they chose to go the specific route they did. And also if there was any difference in ride quality between the two. Lots of questions...lol

Depends on who you ask.

I have the Bilsteins and feel like they ride better than the stock struts (non-CCD). I also have the tow package so my springs are also on the stiffer side than a non-HD tow package.

The spacers are strut top setups, so they don't add any pre-load to the springs. As such, they really shouldn't change the ride quality much. The downside to spacer lifts is that they will "stretch" the suspension outside of the design scope.

This is a good write-up:

Hilly,
I bought the Bilsteins, and noticed something in your message that I missed before. The RC lift does have preload spacers in addition to the top hat spacer. That's where my concern lies. How much of the rear lift comes from the preload spacers (between spring and top hat), if any? I have to believe some lift, or why else is it part of the lift kit?

Ideally, I'd love to get rid of the preload spacers for ride quality, or so i think. Being that there's the preload spring spacers in addition to the top hat spacer, I'm not sure the 1.5" Bilstein setting will be enough to bring it level. Or am I overthinking all of this? Lol
