Tried to like other rigs/brands, but, nothing like the whole package that is the Expedition MAX Limited...
So, scooped up a '24 two weeks ago to replace the '19 I sold with the RV and have already had a good couple of highway blasts/trips. The '25, with that plastic tailgate, oval steering wheel and sweeping screen/display were no go's for me...

A few early observations:
1. Build quality seems way better on the '24 vs '19, a very pleasant surprise. The red stitching on the seats I like less than my '19s white/grey, but, I can live with it/looks sharp/growing on me. The doors/glass hatch/hood/fuel door/tailgate are all better aligned and close "tighter" (and more completely perhaps?) with a very satisfying single syllable "thump" or "click" as opposed to the "ker-thunks" of the '19. Fit and finish on the huge sunroof and the mechanism is really good/way quieter - snap/crackle/pop free for both shade and glass, which never happened with the '19/was a constant annoyance/****** that I would have deleted altogether if special ordering a '24.
2. All digital gauge cluster. I am getting used to it now (I guess), but, I'd rather see a needle sweeping on a graduated tach/speedo as opposed to the constantly changing numbers/digits - it's just too busy IMO. Anyone know if another view is possible to configure that is more traditional? I've looked and come up spades on that one.
3. Big touchscreen. I was targeting units without it mainly for the analog gauges - they were few and far between. The HVAC controls on a touch screen is just dumb/gimicky to me... Surely Ford got mixed feedback on this but from what was available new, the "higher end" ones almost all have it. Again, I'll get used to it and mainly keep everything on auto anyway, but, I'd just prefer a button for those controls. Only ones I found weren't white, silver, blue or were SPPs, so no limited spec trims left with it that I saw being sold as new. Really happy I went down that rabbit hole for the Stealth vs SPP spec that I almost pulled the trigger on at 6K more for 0 mechanical/part differences... Not interested in dishing out 6K for a tune, black mirror caps and red painted calipers or living with the dirt on a large black vehicle that will just be kept outside.
4. "Decontented" but better overall. No multicolor interior lights (I'll miss the red, orange and green for the standard ford blue), no button for captains chairs now/just the handle (which I actually prefer), and I like that the kids can't monkey with skipping tracks from the 2nd row.
5. Ride Quality is overall better... The '19 SE had CCD but maybe pulling a TT in it's early life adversely affected it? The '24 is tight, smooth and just the right amount of plush for in Normal mode. Sport mode seems to firm things up a bit there, too if/when I need to hustle it around.
6. Transmission - It was a demo unit with 224 mi on it when I bought it, but, each mode shifts through all the gears and seems really good/leaps and bounds smoother than the '19 which skipped and shifted really harsh when cold.
7. Added the J&L catch can at about 300 miles ~ 1100 later there was about a tablespoon in there.
8. Husky Xacts and Defender cargo liner are great/fit perfectly, I expect a lifetime of service for those.
9. Anyone know why there isn't that plastic engine cover that says ECOBOOST on '24s? I made the dealer I bought it from check a few F150s and Expeditions and there were none present.
10. Love the Auto Hold, the ability to shut off the double honk and the long delay on the running boards, too.

Had about 10 mins of having the cruise set at 100 after the first 1000 miles and it was super smooth/stable as can be. Some really interesting wheel weights on these **** stock General Grabber HTS tires! There is sometimes a very slight vibration at like 72-76MPH. I was rolling closer to 80/85 mostly, however and had no vibrations at that speed at all. If I swerve a bit in the lane when it is happening, it usually goes away - could that be the CCD or can I chalk that up to these garbage tires? I have never seen so many wheel weights used - one wheel has over 5 oz of lead on it and two others have over 4 oz. Anyone have any luck convincing a dealer to exchange them for what they want/something better?

Fuel mileage was indicating about 15, gobbling fuel due to speeds/running it in on the highway with a Lolo bike rack and 4 bikes... Everything I've owned gets better after a few thousand miles. I have no concerns there.

Next is debadging the hood letters and also entertaining a chome delete/c-pillar black out/front window tint and some MPT sauce to really make it mine...

Overall, very happy with it so far!

Feedback appreciated/welcomed...

Our '24 had vibration right off the lot and dealer found after rebalancing all 4 tires twice, they determined 2 of the 4 General Crappers were no good. They gave me $400 towards a set of my choice, and we went with Pirelli Scorpion AS plus 3's. What a difference those made! Smooth, quiet and so far wearing great after 12k miles. Was also impressed with them on snow and ice!

Have a 24' Timberline coming from a 2018 limited Max. Love everything about it with the exception of the Hvac controls on the screen. Especially the shared volume fan control knob. What a disaster.
It's a disaster/garbage but probably actually a cost savings to have soft buttons on there as opposed to physical buttons. I honestly don't know who'd actually "want" that touchsceen for HVAC controls? I'd like buttons for the seat heat/cool as well. I have found that most of the settings available are actually better thought out and the stuff everyone complained about has been addressed, mostly. The double honk disabling (so annoying) preference and the ability to leave the running boards deployed when parked is great for me, I used to manually set them "out" in parking lots so car doors hit them instead of the painted sheetmetal... I like this option for no. of cycles for longevity, too. The other thing that gets me is the space between HVAC and Android Auto with the dumb little tiles of last used stuff, also a waste. Ford must think a lot of customers use their native navigation/functions. I'd bet 99.5% of owners use CarPlay or Android Auto.

Same here, we hated the portrait touchscreen and wanted some physical buttons. The Limited is fine for us, and we found a unicorn, the 2nd row bench! We run the AS Plus 3 as well and they were really smooth and quiet on our trip from Tx to NM.

I'm in the exactly same boat. Went from a (decent '19) to a '24 because I HATED what they did to the '25.

I have the same exact observations with one or two minor differences.

1. The HVAC controls are UNSAFE. Takes far too much attention off of the road to do anything but Auto.
2. I've got Pirelli Verdis on mine. Love the Scorpions (have 4 other sets) and the Verdis are just wearing faster than the Scorpions. But smooth and quiet.
3. I too want to see numbers and temperatures. Especially the tranny.
4. Getting 18.5 from Cleveland to NYC up and down I-80 3 times a month. Cruise control makes all the difference. About 13.0 when towing across PA.
5. About to do the 30K tranny fluid switch to Amsoil.
6. Question: What is a J&L Catch Can?

Thanks for a great thread. Bob

We unfortunately left the Expedition family just recently due to quality issues on our 23 Limited Max. Tons of interior squeaks and rattles some due to improper installation or lack of grease on latches. Also a front end vibration that tires and a full rebuild of the differential did not resolve. Poor ride quality was also an issue. Also poor service from local (65 miles away) dealerships was the icing on the cake. Traded for a 25 Yukon XL AT4 Duramax and so far couldn’t be happier. Quality and fit and finish is miles better. Also averaging north of 22 MPG on first few tanks. As a Ford guy couldn’t have been more disappointed in our 23. Only thing I miss is the performance of the 3.5. I hope things improve in the future.

I went from a 2015 Expedition XLT to a 2023 Dodge Durango R/T to a 2024 Expedition Limited.

I'm doing OK with the HVAC controls. I leave it on Auto and pretty much all I do is occasionally change the temperature which I do using voice commands.

Mine came with General Grabber tires on the 22" wheels. After 10,000 miles, I have no vibrations that I can detect.

I'm not happy with the bounciness of the rear end. I'm considering the Hellwig rear sway bar or dropping down to 20" wheels with Michelin Defender tires.

I record the gallons delivered at every gas stop and calculate the fuel economy. My current average is 18.326 MPG with a best tank of 20.063 and a worst tank of 15.714. This is with mostly suburban and highway driving.

I purchased my '23 Expy limited SPP with CCD after putting on 150k miles on my '17 limited. I was very impressed with the performance of my '17 which was used both as a geologic field vehicle and as a highway cruiser. The '23 now has 23,000ish miles and is the lap of luxury on the highway. I do not like the touch screen and HATE the climate controls on the screen. What a hazard!! Auto Start/Stop and the HVAC controls on touch screen are jokes that are not funny.

In all, I am glad I bought another Expy to replace my original 2017 Expy.

5? OK, if you say so... I thought the problem was more me keeping my foot out of it/driving a bit more conservatively! I have noticed MPGs are way better when running without that bike rack!

I'm doing OK with them too but I want literally everything HVAC wise to be voice controllable with this big dumb screen. There has to be a way to add more commands...

I would probably pay for the smaller screen and physical controls if it were easily swappable. My main gripe living with it now for ~2500miles...

Fair enough, but the fuel economy of the 3.0 Duramax is hard to beat. Definitely the best engine GM currently offers in the full size SUVs. Again, hope Ford gets their crap together because the Expedition could be really competitive if they put the effort in.

Except it's discontinued on the Subie for '26.

No it’s not. The only full-size GM SUV you can’t get the LZ0 in is the Escalade. It’s actually more available than it was before starting in 2025 as you can get it in Z71 and AT4 trims.

For '25 maybe, but not for '26. At least not according to the Chevy website.

They do appear to still offer it on the Yukon XL.
