I'm getting my true dual straight pipes on monday (2" piping, exiting out to 3" tips)

I am also going to get a set of hi-flow cats soon, the gentlemen at my exhaust shop told me he has had problems with Magnaflow cats and other brands in the past, and he recommends using Catco.

Either way I'm going to be purchasing the cats myself, and have them welded on by him (to save money, I'm all about being economical).

Anyways, I wanted to know what YOU guys recommend. I want to be sure I don't get any check engine lights!!!

I heard the same thing when I looked into getting a pair of high flow cats.
He said the magna flows would cause it to throw codes. He also told me of a highflow cat that wouldn't throw codes not sure if that was the name though I had never heard of the company he told me .

just delete the fronts and call it a day.... cheaper and still sounds bad @$$

Apparently my Expedition will throw a light if I remove ANY of the cats because they are all behind the 02 sensor. It's strange because I thought it was only 2 of the cats behind the sensor. But I saw it for myself and was quite disappointed.

I guess I'm just going to go with the hi-flow high capacity catalytic converters that my exhaust guy offers.

What do you anticipate your gain in switching cats from the stock one to a "hi-flow"?
IMO the only gain I see is in the exhaust guy's pocket.
Did you read the article posted above and what were your thoughts?
Not trying to trash your idea just questioning the value.

Didn't read the article, I'll find some time to do so though if you suggest it.

And the only reason I plan to go with hi-flow cats vs. stock ones is because they sound better and it's an alternative to completely removing my cats, only because I need to pass state inspection.

You need to read the article.... Especially if your spending more for high flow cats because they don't exist...

Like I said, all of my catalytic converters are behind my 02 sensor, not in the middle. So therefore, if I plan on eliminating my rear two cats, it WILL throw a check engine light.

My O2's are ,2 in the front of all cats and two behaind the Cats, I'm sure this is the way all Expys are setup. The rears monitor if the cats are working properly.
My exhaust shop guy has done numerous rear deletes and high flow cats and says he never gets a light on. He guarantee it.

i have a 99' expedition and my 02 sensors and catalytic converters are bad, instead of replacing them can i just run straight pipes and get better performance?
when i drive it, it putters and very annoying!
will the straight pipes make it run better?
