I run whats called for. The engine is designed for the weight of oil it calls for. I run mobil 1 with a k&n, mobil 1 or bosch filter.

I use 5w20 on my 2nd Gen (it's what FORD calls for). I've been using synthetic mobil 1 since I got the truck; but lately I've seen lots of debates on what oils to use, etc. Some folks say that one of the best oils to use are the ones from Motorcraft because it has one of the few blends that still retain most of the minerals engines need.

Most of these synthetic and other blends have moved away from these minerals because of environmental issues, etc. I'll try to find the link with all the info and share with you guys

Change mine ever 3k or sooner, use Valvoline 5w30 Synthetic and a Napa Gold filter which is made by Wix..That filter has the double check valve...meaning one to maintain oil pressure and the other to hold it after you shut the engine off, which helps stop lifter chatter and oil pressure in the bearings....cant even see it on the stick and could sell to some one else it comes out so clean

I use 5w20 for camshaft clearance, the 3v's should use 5w30 to keep the oil pressure up so cam phasers dont make a ton of noise, and no fram sucks, microguard, wix, k&n, al that stuff is fine I just wont use fram ever now

5/20 Motorcraft Full Synthetic. OR 5/40, unsure which I threw in there, either the expy has the 20, or the lil sisters XXXploder has the 20.. leaning towards the Expy.

$17 5 qt jug at Walmart.

Avoid Mobil 1 filters. Too restrictive, starve the motor for flow.

Blew up a 1VVz-e (? 02 Corolla engine) got to reading on the Corolla boards, SEVERAL have blown up their engine as well, all of us were Mobil 1/Mobil 1. One guy did a little digging, and found (e-claimed) that the filter was restrictive enough to starve the engine for flow at higher rpm.

I use 5w20 (or what ever it is they recommend) and a k&N oil filter. I wait till advance has them on sale, and you pretty much get the oil filter for free. As far as brands of oil as long as its not some super cheap crap and you regularly change it i find it don't really matter (unless your running your vehicle in "extreme conditions").

my parents bought a 94 camry back in like 95, and finally got rid of it like a year ago. they ran cheap, crap oil in it. the head gasket went at like 285,000 miles so i bought it off my parents for $100 threw a head gasket on it and sold it.
anyways i was thinking with that many miles it may need a new head, i pulled it apart, it looked like it had 50,000 miles on it, there was almost no deposits on it. it did need a little machining, and I lapped the valves, and that thing i still running to this day (sold it to a buddy). Anyways my point is my parents change their oil like every 2500-3000 miles and they have never had a issue.

Change it every 3K miles based on SuperCharger reqt's since its lubricated off of engine oil. Since rebuild @ 147,700, been using CASTROL 5W30 and a Fram Extraguard filter. Again, change every 3K miles since S/C spins faster than other engine components and heat generation.
