    Metallic ringing noise when moving

My 08 4x4 expedition has developed an odd sound, almost like a brake rotor has a stone jammed in the bracket. Nothing is touching the rotors or unusual around it. Not related to engine rpm, no change 2wd or 4x4, directly related to speed. It's existed with almost no change for several hundred...

Installing a fuel pump voltage booster on my 2008 Expedition

Fpdm doesn't exist on 08 model, despite parts list showing it. It's not on the wiring diagram, and the fuel lines and filter are different. Pump runs at full power, fuel got to filter, return line off filter goes back to sending unit and the mechanical pressure regulator dumps any excess...

    Rubber floor patching

You'd think I'd have found a product by now, given the number of commercial vehicles with rubber flooring.... does anyone know of a place that sells chunks of oem quality rubber floor material, that I can glue down? I'm really trying to get a large patch, about the size of a rubber floor mat...

    Dim instrument panel in daytime

I keep too much junk in my dash tray, I've had stuff slide over the sensor, drove me nuts until I notice it. I wish there was a Forscan setting to change the dash brightness ratio, given that I drive around with headlights in all the time.

2007 XLT fuel shuts off intermittently....relay or pump??

That'd do it. My 08 had a bad connector at the fuel pump, damaged both the pump and connector. Former police service vehicle, probably has a lot of hours idling. Fuse was so brittle from slowly being baked before it blew that I had to pry chunks out with a toothpick. In the process, I...

    Roof rack removal pics?

Any chance of a few pics from above? I'm especially interested in what the mount points look like, but I'm convinced that if I pull mine just to look, I'll wind up with a leak.

Support adding auxiliary condenser fan to 2010 Limited

My 08 has an electronically controlled clutch on the engine fan, it should be able to move enough air to keep things cool... if my fan shroud was intact. With a chunk missing, the fan can spill air and keep churning the same air instead of pulling through the radiator. The bottom of the shroud...

LED Turn Signal Bulbs - advice

Hyperflash setting didn't make a difference in my 08, I've heard it only fixes the rears, maybe the latest version of the software has found the setting for the fronts.

    Transmission question

Yep. I was very tempted to add a drain on the side of the pan at the "full" height, and plug a hose barb into it at fluid change, fill to overflow, repeat when hot, then put the plug back in. I think someone did something similar with a pair of copper tunes, and a washer to set depth. Stick it...

    Differential/Trans Breathers?

The biggest plus of relocating the breather is that it won't **** in water when the sudden cooling of a hot case drops the internal pressure. Ideally, the breather would be pressurized to 1-3psi, to keep water out, and vented the rest of the time. Even with that, there's still the risk of wheel...

2008 Expedition and Marvel Mystery Oil

Seems like half the phaser problems are caused by deposits, and the other half by incorrect oil. I'm a fan of cleaning out everything possible with solvent, and several short interval oil changes, then pulling and replacing the solenoids. That's done the trick for the last few expy owners I've...

Catalytic Converter issue or something deeper?

I had a misfire that would appear when the engine got hot, and vanish when it cooled down. Clip on the coil's input wire was broken, and the silicone the police dept mechanic slathered on everything made the seal work really well. Trapped air would expand, push the connector out, misfire a lot...

    Adding 3rd Row

Most of them will have rubber plugs. I discovered that while 2nd gen seats will fit with a bit of wiggling, the seat belt attachments are different.

    Auxiliary Power plug

That's a weird way to represent a power receptacle. Had me wondering if it was a relay for a few minutes.

    Auxiliary Power plug

When I turned the supply up to 14.3v, I got 1.45a, and 12.15v at battery. Pretty noteworthy drop in there, somewhere. Might be worth turning your supply up to the higher end of 6 cell lead acid float voltages. There's still a ton of drop, but it'll work.
