would you use a chinese part on your exped? (rear window strut)

I replaced both the rear glass tailgate struts as well as the hood struts two years ago with imported parts and everything has worked great.

300k miles Any recommendations for maintenance

I just turned 349,000 on my 2000 EB and just do the same repetitive maintenance program that was done with the vehicle since new. I know it likely is a waste of money, but I still replace the oil every 3,000 miles, and replace the other fluids more often than the service manual calls for, but...

2003 EB 4X2 Stalling at Intersections.

Replaced the IAC valve two days ago, and the truck has been operated on numerous short trips since. Problem solved. Even though the valve was cleaned after being found quite dirty, the unit needed to be replaced. The idle is much smoother, and was reported to me that the truck appeared to have...

2003 EB 4X2 Stalling at Intersections.

We are getting some results from testing for the issues that have caused a stall condition on the Exp. The EGR passages have been cleaned. The IAC valve was really dirty and was cleaned up. No work yet on the fuel pressure. The truck starts easily, both cold and hot. When it gets to an...

2003 EB 4X2 Stalling at Intersections.

Stamp, I'm being told that no codes were showing when the system was scanned. I would think that the OBD II would throw out some codes with these issues. Maybe trying another scanner would bring results. Will start with examining the three potential causes you mentioned. Thanks for the quick...

2003 EB 4X2 Stalling at Intersections.

My daughter and her husband purchased a new Exp. in 2003. It's been a trouble free SUV. Low mileage, approx. 125K, always garaged and maintained properly. Recently it cut out at speed on the freeway, but was easily able to restart. Sputtered on another occasion, but then recovered. Good power...

    2001 Reverse Sensing System

It's a start to check the shift cable. I need somewhere to begin to trace the issue. The back-up lights are working correctly. I have not had the transmission in for any work or service and can't understand how a switch could get 180 off, or wires reversed, etc. I haven't been able to find any...

    2001 Reverse Sensing System

The reverse sensing circuit on my 01 has me a bit baffled. In every shift position except reverse, including park and neutral, the system is on, but in reverse it doesn't work. At intersections, if a vehicle gets too close to me from the rear I get the chirping, and at two intersections in town...

Constant whirring sound in the engine compartment 2000 Exp.

I received my re-built ABS Module yesterday and installed it today. One day turnaround from Rapid Electronics, located just outside of Austin, Texas. Everything went back together a lot quicker than it came apart, and the brake system is back to working as it should. I took the truck a few...

Constant whirring sound in the engine compartment 2000 Exp.

Knowing that the screws likely would be an issue, I early in the morning applied a bit of penetrating oil to them. In order to get a solid bite to the T-5 Torx screws to prevent damage to the heads, I ended up using two extensions and one swivel to get the ratchet up to an area where I could get...

Constant whirring sound in the engine compartment 2000 Exp.

This morning I rotated the tires on the Exp. and checked to make sure that all ABS sensors were not fouled or defective. Nothing out of the ordinary was found. I also checked my pre-start service lights in the dash and found that the ABS light was defective, the only light in the cluster to not...

Constant whirring sound in the engine compartment 2000 Exp.

Learning of having an abs pump and its location has been super helpful. I reconnected the battery and now knowing of the pump, found it, and it's definitely the culprit. Further searching around I found this You Tube video of the diagnosis and repair. Solenoids in the control module seem to...

Constant whirring sound in the engine compartment 2000 Exp.

I pulled seven rows of assorted fuses and relays without luck. On the final and last row, the very first fuse stopped the noise. Engine compartment - Location 102, 50 AMP, Anti-lock Brake Module. With the fuse removed, all engine functions and accessories seem to work properly, except I'm sure...

Constant whirring sound in the engine compartment 2000 Exp.

Ron, your response is just too logical for me to have considered on my own. I'll start the process and get the problem isolated through the fuse box. Thanks much, and of course I'll report my findings.

Constant whirring sound in the engine compartment 2000 Exp.

The sound, while maybe not as loud, is not unlike a starter motor that hasn't engaged, similar to what you would expect with a bad starter drive. In my case, the truck starts easily with no noise, nothing out of the ordinary.
