Your right, I hadn't realised that Ford downgraded the motor from the 32 valve DOHC to the 24valve SOHC in 2005. I am no fan of the 3v engine.- jt_armstrong

I would have the navigator over the expy any day. More powerful engine, better interior and looks better. We had a 2001 navigator then went for the 2003 expy only because similar aged/milage navigators were about 30% more expensive. Which OBD-II adapter works for 2003 Expedition
I got one off Amazon works "perfectly" on my 2003 model. I think I paid about $10 for it. As I understand so long as it is ELM327 compatible then your good to go. When I say works perfectly it connects with Torque Pro and I can see most of the inputs and clear codes etc but only 2 cylinders...- jt_armstrong

Seat belt retractor sluggish
I had a similar issue in mine. When I stripped that panels off the belt had a full twist. I guess the last owner just shoved the twist down beyond the little opening in the panel to hide it. Next time it happens try check if you have any pressure on the fuel rail. A common fault on these models is the fuel pump relay which is soldered to the fuse box circuit board. Rear Suspension question, need advice..

Success. New pump fitted, tank back in, drives like a champ. Took me less than an hour to put it all back to together. Hope fully I dont have that to do again. As suspect the vent hose at the top was the tricky bit but an assortment of 1/4" drive extensions with a flat blade tip on the end gave...- jt_armstrong

Is there a way to remove the fuel pump without dropping the tank? I found a thread where someone had done this on 2002 model. Not sure if the same trick would work on a 2003. Quick update. The techs at work established the board was good and also established that the relay was operational. Because it was easy to do they swapped R303 with R301. So my issue never recurred...until tonight. I had the pressure gauge in the back of the car so was able to quickly confirm 0psi on the fuel rail. Clearly a pump or fuse box issue.
