I liked the Sylvania SilverStar lights before I went HID. Is there a reason you don't want to go with an HID? I picked up my kit off of eBay for about $45 shipped, had it installed in about 20 minutes, and haven't had any issues. It took longer figuring out how to remove the headlight than it did wiring it up. For what I consider a brighter light and cheaper than a good set of standard bulbs, why not?

Edit: I've also heard good things about the SilverStar zXe and SilverStar Ultra's. The only knocks on them I've heard have been that the zXe's fad to a more normal looking light after awhile(don't know how long awhile is though) and that the Ultra's don't last long, period(as in you'll be buying more bulbs more often). But for these two it isn't personal experience, just what I hear.

I'm just happy with the light output of my eBay 35$ 8000k. It's too blue and visability is poor.

I have silver star ultras for my high, low, and fogs.. And am VERY happy with them! Picked them all up on amazon and eBay for about 1/2 of what they would have cost in the store.

Putting HIDs in a halogen housing will result in blinding oncoming drivers (we have all experienced this), and does not usually result in a "better" light, just more light dispersing EVERYWHERE.

I recently picked up a Honda accord as a daily driver, and wil be doing a retrofit myself, to HID Projectors. Will probably do the truck if I have he extra money. Hid bulbs in projectors or housings designed for HIDs are great... HIDs in halogen headlight housings result in blinding oncoming drivers, and little else.

Good info. Maybe I'll try a projector housing first before I get rid of my eBay hids.

These look good

I too want brighter bulbs but I do not want to put in new headlights so I can do HID. I have seen HIDs in a regular headlight housing and I did not like the look and I don't want to give the police any excuse to pull me over and waste my time. I have a 2011 and like my headlights, just want them brighter. Any recommendations would be great.

Meh, I tried Silverstars and the Ultras a while ago. Switching from the stock bulbs, I did notice a bit of a difference, though I think at the time, I was more impressed with the color difference. Once the newness wore off, though, I did notice how hard it was to see the road when it was, say, wet. The reflective lines showed up nice, but that wasn't much use on some of the more worn roads around here.

Tried HID PnP in the lows, and it is definitely brighter (duh). Your problem, OP, is that you went with 8000 K. That's too blue. You should have went 4300 K, maybe even 5000 K.

Yes, projectors would be better (not the ebay crap, actual OEM/reps of OEM projectors), but at least on the 2nd Gen lights, the low beams aren't horrible with HIDs, at least IMO.

If you're going to stick to halogen, try to get something that isn't colored since that filters out some usable light (usually your yellows).
