2000 5.4 l transmission issue

Anybody out there have any issues with transmission shuddering going into overdrive and how to repair?

Mine did that on my 4r100. I dropped the pan changed the filter and topped it back off work 4 qts of atf. Hasn't done it in 20k

Super common. Called torque converter shudder.

All the AODE, 4r70w, 4r75w, 4r100 can all do it.

Pan drop and fluid and filter change is best and you should have a drain plug on the converter if you remove the small inspection plate with 2 bolts.

Will take 11-11.5 qts with converter drain.

You can also add Dr Trans Instant Shudder Fix to make it go away.

See, this is what happens when peeps try to push beyond the service intervals, 30k on the early ones. Real common complaint on the later 6speeders. Apparently even the first gens want super clean atf fluid. It's by far the easiest drain and fill of any automatic out there. Like Toby said, just drain the fluid and a little unsrewable plug on the torque converter. In your situation, I'd drop pan after drain to clean pan, and replace filter. If you do labor, it's a sub $100.00 job.
