All - I've been reading through the forum, but haven't found the same problem yet. Please let me know if I'm missing it.
2015 model. A few months ago (late summer in VA) we had an odor in the car that I treated with Lysol (there is a thread). Then the same thing happened a month later, once again fixed with Lysol. Both times it seemed to be in the front ducts. I assumed it was come kind of mold/growth in the ducts due to the high heat and humidity. After that I started getting weird noises from the rear a/c unit, which now makes me think was the system running out of refrigerant, and that the odor I had dealt with earlier was a leak in the evaporator.
I just took the car in to have them check the a/c because we have no cold air. They found no refrigerant in the system at all. They serviced it, added dye, and checked for leaks but can't find a single one. I have been driving for a few days with no odor and no problems.
Anyone have any ideas? Is it possible that my front evaporator is bad after only 50K miles and I have a leak somewhere up there that I (and they) can't see?
Thank you.
