Hey guys. My radiator fan only runs at one speed and runs all the time. The car will overheat when idling with the AC on after like 40 min. Is there multiple speeds with these fans? What should I look at?

Many cars will overheat if idles that long, how many miles on it?Hey guys. My radiator fan only runs at one speed and runs all the time. The car will overheat when idling with the AC on after like 40 min. Is there multiple speeds with these fans? What should I look at?
170k. No a car is designed to idle indefinitely that means there's somerhing wrong. The fans should kick into high gear when idling that long to keep it cool. It seems the fans are stuck on a low speed all the time. Many cars will overheat if idles that long, how many miles on it?
Thank you. I will check that. Yes the coolant level is good. It engages but doesn't really push enough air almost like it can't get into high gear. I tried the screwdriver test where you try and stop the fan while running an fit didn't stop when cold or hot it barley spins.Your profile says you own a 2008. If that info is correct you should have the electric clutch fan which is controlled by the ECM. First I’d check to make sure your wiring harness to the clutch is not damaged and connected properly. From there I’d turn on the A/C, it should lock up and unlock at idle periodically as the air cycles when the ECM commands lockup. You will hear the fan start to push a lot of air. If it isn’t functioning after you check it out it may be time for a new fan clutch assembly. Coolant level good?
Ok so the connections look good. The fan does run just only at one speed and very slowly. Def not enough to cool at idle. So is it safe to assume it's my fan clutch? Also these vehicles do have multiple fan speeds right?Your profile says you own a 2008. If that info is correct you should have the electric clutch fan which is controlled by the ECM. There is no electric motor on the carsEngaged or not engaged. Do not have separate motor on fan clutch. You may have an electric fan on the front of radiator, passenger side. May be all you have working.
