Has anyone ever experience your Ford Exp. stuttering while driving at 40-50mph. I took My vehicle to the ford dealer, paid a $150, and they still could not solve the problem. Matter of fact, they did not notice the stuttering. If you had the same experience, please post your solution. They said it could be a belt, but they did not notice any issues that are alarming.

Can you explain any further what you mean by stuttering? Rpms going up and down? Surging? Loss of power? Could be several things

It is hard to put into words. While driving around 40-50 mph it feels like the rpms consistently/ sporadically drops and increases the faster I drive the it stops.

Could also be coils. Mine did this when I had two bad coils, and if I switched it out of OD and into a lower gear (higher RPM) then it would stop.

Look for stored codes and do a cylinder balance test to look for a miss. When were the plugs last changed? Spark plugs or a bad coil is the first place I'd look.

2013 Expy with 133K miles stutters 35-40 and 55-60. I've had the problem for 3 yrs. Paid for recommended plug change, coil over change, 3 fuel injectors replaced. NO HELP! A retired mechanic told me about Motorcraft Additive Friction Modifier 4oz. He said it was for differentials but would also work on the tranny. I was told the torque converter would have to be replaced for about $2000. So I figured $20 for the additive was an EZ gamble. So far I have 800 miles on it and have not had anymore stuttering. You're on your own if you use this product. But I'm happy to share with you that I've REALLY been happy with this fix so far. "Happy trails, to you...." Ordered on Amazon btw. Also, stuttering = car feeling like it couldn't decide whether to shift up or down over and over in quick succession. I used to step on the gas to make it go away before using the modifier. Hope this helps 4 U.

I had stuttering/bucking around 45 mph while under slight acceleration, like going up a small incline. If I increased or decreased pressure on the throttle it would stop. I replaced the plugs and coils and it solved the problem. It was at about 108,000 miles.
