Went down that road and was hell bent on staying with buttons. Ended up getting the 15" and do not miss buttons one bit. In fact now I think buttons are just clutter. People seems to indicate they want buttons since they are changing the temp and the fan speed every minute. I can change these in the 15" with one click. No menus. Also the notion to have buttons in the event of a screen failure is silly. You have to assume things will work otherwise you can say that about everything else like the engine computer, the drive by wire or even the key fob. But to each his own.
its fine to consider silly the notion of having buttons should the screen fail, as you said, to each their own. Tactile feedback while driving, knowing where your knobs are and reaching down for them without taking your eyes off the road to tap a screen beats a big/touch screen.

Love it. The navigation view is actually useable and so much better than with the smaller screen. Google maps or Apple Maps are so much better than my Raptor with the smaller screen.
I wouldn't go back.

Thanks for the input everyone. I ended up going with the larger screen and hoping I don't regret it lol. Cheers!

I just took delivery of my SPP, opted for the "smaller" screen, and absolutely love it! I say "smaller" because it is still very big. I prefer the analog instrument cluster as well, and I love having the buttons for seat heater, ac, etc. I might be a bit old school, but it seems more fit-for-purpose having the Expy feel more like a truck vs a Tesla.

There is a service bulletin on the screens where they are bricking. I’ve been fighting with Ford to get it fixed. They are refusing to fix it because it’s not throwing a code, even though it’s not working when I took it in. It’s an intermittent “bricking”. You can’t control anything. 4 month old Timberline.

That being said, I prefer buttons also. But for 1k I would still get the big screen. It will be inconvenient at times.

I thought the new big screen was pretty sweet in our ‘22 Platinum, but my wife absolutely hates it…and it’s her vehicle. She wants her ‘20 back. Her biggest complaint is having to go through pages to get to things like the 360 camera.

Exactly. Nothing like making it look cool, but functionally FAR worse!

Seems most who hate the 15" screen are ones who do not have it. Maybe justification for the fact they do not have it.
Others seems to complain about tactile feel BS. My Question are these people who hate this screen the same ones who do not have a smart phone and still have a flip phone?

I have a 15" screen, it's great. Nice upgrade from the 12" alternative, probably worth the $800 mark up.
The other benefit no one mentions is the digital dashboard that comes with the 15" screen. Leaps and bounds nicer than the analog one which was first released with the 2015 F-150. I don't find myself inconvenienced at all with the 2 clicks to get to the camera, or the digital climate controls, you pick it up quick. Reaction time is a bit slow for me, but to each their own. I actually got to test a 12" expy at the dealer a few weeks ago. The system reaction times, and even the 360 camera show up for both mine and the 12" roughly the same speed. Seems to also have a bit of a lag with Sync 4 in general, at least for me.

It's going to be way easier in a few years for ford and other manufactures to just drop the LED screen in the center, instead of having to print individual buttons for each feature, design knobs, test them for quality, stock them, etc. way easier to have a screen you can customize with software.
