Hey Guys,

I've also posted on Cyan Labs site directly but wanting to clarify here as well from people who have updated their Sync 3 to Sync 3.4. For context, I have a 2017 Ford Expedition EL Limited and my current Sync 3 is version 2.0 with a build number of 16074. I've heard that people say you should be on version 3.0 at least to jump to 3.4 but I've also seen a lot of conflicting information on this.

For people that have done the Sync 3.4 update, what was your original Sync 3 version and any thoughts on if I'll be fine jumping from 3.2.16074 to 3.4.xxxxxx? Thanks!

I would think you'll be fine. The 3.4 install reformats the module. That being said I was on 3.0 when I did it
Fair warning: there are a couple bugs with the climate control buttons when you install 3.4. It's really not that noticeable but just a heads up in case that's something that would bother you

I started with Sync 2.2; original to my ‘16 EL. Then, I updated to Sync 3.0 a few years ago. Just updated to the latest version about 2-3wks ago. I’m liking it so far. Had no issues with the update process.

I think mine was version 2.2 as well and I jumped straight to 3.4x. Everything works fine on mine except the clock. For whatever reason, I lost the little clock in the bottom right corner of the instrument cluster. And then a few months later the clock display on the main screen doesn't count time while the engine is on. Meaning if I hop in at 8:05pm and turn it on, it'll correctly show 8:05pm. But after driving for 10 minutes for example, its still stuck on 8:05 until the moment I turn the ignition off, then it jumps to the correct time (8:15 in this example). It's super weird, slightly annoying, but not a huge deal since I use CarPlay for any drive outside of quick in town trips and everything functions properly with CarPlay.

I have a 2016 Expedition EL - I tried to update Sync yesterday via thumb drive - first I took out a cheap thumbdrive, it was FAT32 formatted and 16gb - extracted the files to it, and went outside and turned on the Expedition, after almost 3 hours I decided I had to turn it off - it constantly said it was updating but was not going anywhere it seemed. after turning it off and then back on after about 10 minutes it came up with an error, something about not enough space. I then uploaded it to a 32gb USB 3.0 drive that I formatted in EXFAT - after over an hour again of it saying it was updating, I had to cut it off - now every time I start the Expedition it just says it's updating even though a USB Drive is no longer plugged in - is the update in there and just running still off the files it extracted? I watched the light on the newer thumbdrive working - after about 10 minutes the light stopped blinking completely so I think that 10 minutes or so it was "extracting" all the needed files, once files were extracted I think it was just working on the update - am I bricked now - or is there a reset to where I can try this again?

It looks like I am on Sync 3 Version 1?
