Cruse control just stopped working after master cylinder and booster replaced. Did paddle self-test failed on right side paddles. Replaced both paddles from Amazon, still fails. Could it be the brake cruse control switch? If it does not have continuity or has failed would this cause the non-engagement of cruse? Verified fuses too, all valid.

Yes, if the brake pedal cutoff switch is failed it will prevent the cruise control from engaging. You can Ohm test the switch, or just replace it if that's easier for you. It's ( the control module...) plugged in under the hood right ? Sometimes the control module just dies too. But you can find them on eBay for about $50.

The cutoff switch is by the brake pedal and not the master cylinder. If that matters. Maybe a new one as the car is 20+ yrs old.

When I took possession of my ‘03 EB last year the cruise was INOP. I went through meticulous troubleshooting and it works like a charm now. Things to check:

1. Ensure you have functionality of your steering wheel cruise control switches. The contacts can get dirty and cease functioning. I think there’s a sticky in this forum for that cleaning procedure.

2. The cruise control has its own self-diagnostic test you can run, counting the number of blinks of the green cruise light indicator. I don’t have the procedure off hand, but dig around on the interwebs, it’s out there. It’ll tell you where to look next.

3. Check your tail light bulbs, including the 3rd brake light (all 5 bulbs). A burned out bulb will render the cruise INOP.

4. Check the cut-off switch at the brake pedal. Understand that the shaft on the switch is adjustable. The circuit is normally open, but when properly adjusted, when depressing the brake pedal the switch completes the circuit and terminates the cruise control.

5. There is a pressure switch on the bottom of your brake booster that can fail (3-wire IIRC, vice the 2-wire). If the previous items check out, that pressure switch is cheap and easy to replace. It does not require that you bleed the brakes.

Report back with your successes.
