Have you replaced the flash relay? I don't think it would be the switch since it just supplies the power constantly once turned on. The relay is what cuts it in and out (causing the light to blink), so that would be my first suspect.
It is my understanding that the oil gauges in these vehicles are always the same as long as there is pressure. As soon as it drops below a certain point, the gauge goes all the way down to signal a problem. They may have changed it on later models, but I would doubt it. I fill my truck past...
No I wasn't trying to say you shouldn't push the guy's manuals. It just made me chuckle cause it would keep popping up and it sounded so familiar.
I too don't claim to know everything and appreciate when you post electrical diagrams, things to check, etc.
I did Accel supercoils and they are working pretty good so far. Not sure how much "a whole lot of money" is but last I checked they were about 200 for set of 8. That's a decent price in my mind considering O'Reilly sells them for 60 apiece.
Did the starter go bad? If the starter is buzzing while the key is turned, then the little arm that sticks out and engages the flywheel is probably broken. Try tapping the starter with a hammer lightly, as it might free the arm back up. Even if it does, I would still replace the starter...
Is it hydrolocked? When was the last time you changed the oil? Check fuses and relays, I would guess since it starts to turn over that they are all good but double check anyways. Has it been making any bad noises/conditions leading up to this point? Knocking, pinging, burning oil, etc.
I would agree, more than likely you are getting water pooling in one or more of the spark plug wells causing a ground to the block instead of through the plug. The rubber boots on the bottom of the COP tends to dry up and no longer make a good seal. The engine warms up and evaporates the...
Correct, the ones that are after the catalytic converters (downstream) only detect if there has been a change in the exhaust from the upstream sensors, thereby signalling the cats are working to a certain extent. If they do not detect enough change, it throws a code and turns on the CEL, but...
Haha we did the same thing on my folk's deck earlier today. This is what I thought of as we did it... (If you haven't watched Breaking Bad it isn't as funny)

Yes they do make a special O2 sensor socket. Check with a local Autozone or O'Reilly, they should carry a kit that you can rent for free (pay a fee up front, get reimbursed in full when you return the kit). I would replace the O2 sensors if you are concerned with fuel economy. I have tried to...
Do you have a spare key you can try? What weight oil is run in it? Can you check the voltage at your battery? New does not mean it is not faulty, just means it could be replaced for free...
Now that you get lights, maybe try jumping it again. Turn off the defroster to disengage the A/C pump...
That's how I feel about mine. Since I do most of my own repairs the cost in parts currently isn't more than a car payment...
Glad the fix is working well so far.
Seeing as you live in Wisconsin you probably have small rust holes through the control arms on the end closest to the rear axle. The road salt gets pressed into the opening on the bottom and just eats them from the inside out. I had quarter-size holes in mine when I finally replaced them with...
Cold temperatures and short trips. Basically it is the condensation in the motor rising to the highest point. If you don't see it in the oil, then it is nothing to worry about. My truck does the same thing all winter.
You can remove the fuse for the ABS to see if the problem goes away as well. That would at least tell you if the ABS system is at fault. If the ABS light is on the dash, the ABS system is fully disabled.
Can you shift to neutral and roll it out of the way? Otherwise do you have a heater (milkhouse/space heater) you can point towards the hood latch to thaw it out?
I drove my truck to the grocery and back. I haven't driven much lately due to a concussion.
]5.4's are an aluminum intake. I would agree that both codes probably just indicate two bad upstream O2 sensors. More than likely they are factory original and need replacing. Mine are the same way, but thanks to living in the rust belt, I cannot get them to bust loose.
At that age (assuming...
I think what he is asking at least somewhat is what needs attention after many miles like that. If you don't know what all has been replaced in the past, then I would just replace things again to be safe unless you can tell for sure they are not factory. Ball joints and tie rods up front are a...
