I would try to get it fixed as soon as you can so you don't get dirt and debris in there and ruin the shaft, but to get the nut off the spindle, air tools work well, but I used a breaker bar with a pipe over the end. That route has rarely kept me from taking anything off.- 99 Expy

Ball Joint separation advice.
That looks like it could work. If your going to replace the parts anyway, I usually just get a bigger hammer. Make sure you done hit the spindle and hit away. I've used sledgehammers on some of that stuff before. If you can make good contact with the strike, it will do a lot.- 99 Expy
