Yeah. I hadd mine replaced 3 times in my 03 and the front diff was rebuilt once. Had to take it in a 4th time cause the axle seals started to leak. I was not a happy camper. I finally dumped it for a 2005. Best thing I could have done.
I went through 3 rearends and one rebuild of the front differential. I was not happy...but it was covered under warranty. I finally traded the 03 (because of to many problems)for an 05 and I couldn't be happier.
True to a certain extent. A turbo will always be better because it is free power (driven by exhaust). Turbo technology has grown to such an extensive market that the days of "turbo Lag" are all but tuned out by technology. Plus a broken belt on a turbo vehicle will not leave you stranded...

It is the compressor clutch engaging. They are metal to metal clutch and work by magnetism when you click the system on. I had the same thing happen on my 2003. It was still doing it at 55K miles before I traded it in for an 05. The only way i found around it was to ensure the AC was off...
Rear Diff limited slip clutch pack. Had the samething. I thought it was something with the front brakes. I changed the brakes and then took it to the dealer and complained. They TRIED to tell me it was a bad brake install and that my rotors were worn. Mind you I never even had the rotors...

My problems have been A/C shudder when first starting up in the morning...
Good info. Look at the back of the rotor and you will see the "min Thickness" stamped into the casting. Then have the shop measure the rotors right there when you drop them off. This way you know what how close you are to replacement. Typically .003-.005 is taken off each side to true the...
These gears wearout every 10,000 miles it seems. The last time I brought mine in for the whine (3rd ring and pinion) the service manager told me there is new gearset part # that Ford released. I have about 8,000 miles on it now. Just got it back because they had to replace the clutch pack in...
Anyone ever put tire cahins on the front of their 2003-2005 Expeditions? If you did what make are they and how do you get them to clear the front suspension?
Brakes
