I have a 03 XLt and I'm wondering how long my brakes should last with average street/freeway driving. I'm approaching 30k miles and they squeek in the front and I'm wondering if they're just squeeky breaks or if they're getting low. I know I could take it to get a free inspection, but I'm sure those mechanics say they need to be replaced before they actually do.

I'm at 50k on my 2003 and they have some good life left. Most of it is highway though with the wifey having the ambilical cord snap back to her momma. (450 miles)

I think it's the brake dust that gets in there, you know how bad it is on our cars. Try using the wheel degreaser and pressure washer at the car wash (on cool wheels, not right when you get there).

I replaced mine around 30K miles.

I bought a set of ceramics for the front for around $70.

No dust. Better stopping. :D

Where did you get your ceramics from? Do you have ceramics on the front and back or just the front?

I used ceramics too and I have no brake dust whatsoever. I'm gonna upgrade to some bigger pads and rotors though due to the 24s.

Did mine at 30 k also. I bought some lifetime replacement pads through Autozone. No dust, no problems. Very easy to do.

I did do them myself. It is quite easy if you have a socket set. :)

I will tell you that there is a spring/bracket that goes on the side of the caliper that is a pain to get back on.

I have no tricks on doing it, it just took brute force :shootout: and a few swears. :D
