    3rd Limited slip

    # 4... Once again... the rear has to be replaced. I am not doing anything unusal with this. It is strictly highway miles. With 40K on her now and a new rearend (new part#) we will see how long this one lasts. Does anyone else notice a high pitch whine coming from the drivetrain? It...

    Front A/c Unit Not Working

You can verify if the compressor still works by bypassing the low pressure cut off switch mounted on in the receiver dryer. If it still works then you probably need freon. If it does not come on then more than likely the compressor seized up. That is a costly repair that shouyd only be...

    UGH, Wife wrecked the car!

Actually, it would only show up on the carfax report if it (VIN #)was reported by the body shop to support an insurance claim. Otherwise, you are just another paying customer. As far as the repair goes, if the quarter needs to be replaced I would STRONGLY recommend you let a body shop do it...

    Switching to Synthetic Oil??

How about a million? While I am not endorsing Amsoil, I have heard/read the claims. A cleaner engine will outlast an engine that has deposits. It is a fact that Dino leaves a varnish deposit (brown discoloration) after time. 1,000,000 miles

    Switching to Synthetic Oil??

After 100,000 miles you can DEFINITELY see adifference from Dino to synthetic. The internals on the synthetic engine look like the day it came out of the factory. (clean) Dino motors turn brown from deposits. I worked with the machine shop on a couple of rebuilds...boy what a difference. The...

My 2004 Ford Expedition sittin on 22's

Nice! How is the ride on the 22's? I have the 20's on there and there is a noticiable ride difference (for the better).

    Idle Problems??? -> The Solution!

Couldn't agree more. You don't want to mess around with something as important as emissions. The IAC does exactly what RWinch has described. In essence it is a REALLY smart choke because of the computer. To elaborate on what PaulC says. When ever the battery cable is pulled you erase the...

Thinking about buying a new Expedition

Great Deals out there. I probably will trade in next year for the 3V 300 HP 5.4 that will be available. Anyone see the 2005's hit the lots yet?

    Using Mobil 1

Monsta , You are correct about the viscosity. However I do re-iterate that the 5W-50 is to extreme of range for these motors. Today's engines are put togehter with far more tolerance specs today than yesterdays motors. Even filter technology has come along way with the introduction of...

Played burned DVDs on stock '03 DVD Player

Keydo, Save your money for the new DVD 9 format. These burners will burn a complete "backup" copy on one disc utilizing the Double layer format that is used for authentic DVD's you buy at stores. Plus it will burn 9 Gigs of info vs. the 4.7 that is avaialbe now. Simply put...it is an...

    Using Mobil 1

WHOA! KEYDO. I hope you are not using 5W-50! That can be detrimental to the motor. I know you are in Cal. but oil pressure increases as it gets cooler. 50W will blow the filter off under hard acceleration (I think there is a check valve in the filter). I have heard this happen with...

    Using Mobil 1

I read that article also on the difference (or indifference) between the 2 weights. Mobil-1 is convienent and available so I have been using the 0W-20 since I bought my Expy.

A few problems with an 03 Expedition

Hey jsoko1, I have the same exact problem with the AC. The whole engine shakes when I kick it in in the morning. Dealer has been unable to replicate the problem because as you said it goes away after warm up. The differential problem you mention might be the front clutch pack problem...

MPG post for you smart people

Should be on the inside frame rail of the drivers side. Word of warning...you need a special tool to remove it.

    3rd Limited slip

Well, once again the rearend moan between 45mph and 70mph has returned. Dealer has committed to replacing the rear once again. It sounds like the pinion bearing is pematurally being worn out. Anyone know if the Explorer's are having the same problems with the 3:73 rearend?

    Switching to Synthetic Oil??

This is only true if you intially used conventional oils for the first 60,000 miles. Switching can produce leaks because your seals have been conditioned with conventional oils. Synthetic is alot thinner and will not allow the seal to "swell" to prevent leaks.

    dual exhaust pics

Nice ride...but I am with RWINCH. It is hard to believe 23/24 MPG with a 3 ton vehicle...loaded. I don't see the big benefit of the fresh air intake because it is sucking in hot air from the engine compartment. But hey, it's your vehicle.

    Bling Bling

Had to get my ride recognized. Just bought Motto 20 x 8.5 rims and shoed her with Goodyear 305 50R 20's GT II tires. What a ride difference from the old Connty's... What do you think?

MPG CNUTTGIRL and all-- If you are watching the MPG indicator on the dash then keep in mind the average you are watching is the OVERALL MPG you have accrued since you have owned the truck. So basically the 14MPG you are seeing is the average of over a year...unless...you RESET it (with the...

    upgrades/ emissions in california

Basically where ever you bought the intake from (Manf.) ask them if the intake is 50 state legal. If it is then they can send you the sticker. If not then yes it does have to come off. However, being new to the state they have a clause for people who move in from other states. In Cal. (I...
