Just go to an autoparts store and ask them to read the codes (unless you have a code reader). That will tell you what cylinder(s) is (are) registering a misfire.
Your plan should work if the problem is not intermittent. I'd use rubber gloves though.
OK I just replaced 1 plug and 1 COP (with my Bosch plug and cheap COP) on the #5 cylinder (easiest to get to btw) which was the one registering a misfire and the Expedition seems to be driving much better. I did not detect any stumbling at all on my 5 miles test drive. Hopefully that got it! I...
Should I be concerned about breaking the plugs in the 5.4l engine? I have heard that the 2003 are not affected by the plug breaking and I have heard they are. I am going to soak them in WD40 overnight before the change and also going to replace all 8 coils. I found the coils on Amazon for $69...
I converted my 2003 EB 4 wheel air ride suspension to traditional coils. I did it because one of the air-shocks would fill while driving and we were wearing out tires on that corner. Not sure if it was actually leaking or if the hoses were leaking. It never leaked out overnight. All 4 air shocks...
Depends if you need the room for seating. We need all 8 seats (2,3,3) so I would never remove the 2nd row center seat. But if you don't think you will need this for a person, it makes sense to get rid of it as it doesn't add anything functional.
When I accelerate in my 2003 EB 4WD I get a slight jerky feeling. Maybe 4-5 jerks. I am pretty sure it has the posi rear as well. There is no loss in power and no engine problems just the jerkiness at startup. Does this sound like the transmission is starting to slip? How much are parts and...
OK I just got done with the lower motor. That might be the easier motor. I don't think you need to remove anything to get to either motor. You can pull out the side enough to get to all 4 screws. The top motor only has 3 screws (this is the floor/roof airflow motor). And yes, I can see why this...
So I found 3 part #s for a 2003. Two for the top motor and 1 for the bottom.

?? Aligned how? They only fit one way? I had the instructions out when I was installing them but did not see anything special about it. Basically it said remove the old ones and install the new ones.
This is what you get....

My '03 EB 4WD has (had) rear air bags. I just converted all 4 to conventional springs/shocks. I don't think they made any with just fronts. Are you sure it is an '03? I don't think you can convert just 2 of them but maybe you can. You should still have the level sensors, solenoid plug and...
I just completed the Suncore (SC) shock conversion on my 2003 EB. First wheel (front) took me about 2 hours. The SC shock is longer then stock and you really have to muscle the bottom in to get it lined up so the bolt goes in. 80% of the time was spent just trying to get the bottom of the shock...
Will the below kit work for the lower ball joint on a 2003 Expedition 4WD EB? The Fords seem a little funny with special adapters available and I want to make sure I have what I need before I start.
Contains 3 receiver tubes measuring 2-3/4 inch I.D. x 3 inch O.D. 2-1/4 inch I.D. x 2-1/2...
GoodYears with the teflon sides not sure of the model about $225 each. One of the 4x was at the dealer. I got the kit in today and will put it in this weekend. Not sure it is going to help but at least the air compressor will stop coming on.
Sorry about this board, it is a little less then useless. I would say just try and do it. Get a Chilton's manual or some other manual for your car. The items you are talking about are relatively easy. I think the ball joint tool is available for sale at most auto parts stores for around $20 or...
I assume it is always low since the air bag leaks. Would the strut rod bushings be replaced with the kit I bought? The shops around here are ALL crooked, if they could have soaked me for a tie-rod end, they would have. However, they are also incompetent. So I guess it is possible that the...
Right front tire going bald - wasted 3 tires so far...
I have had my right front tire replaced 3 times. I have had the car aligned 4 times. Each time they say it is fine but do it anyway. 4 different shops. The right front air shock is always low, leaking and is always trying to inflate. Would...
