Just bought 98 EB 5.4 4x4 210k $1600 needed valve cover gaskets, heater core and radiator. I also put idler arm and rt upper control arm on[had been replaced but with a left arm- der]. Runs great. I work at Ford dealer and have about $400 in parts in it since I bought it.
In my opinion unless you plan lots of HP mods the CAI of any company is a waste of money. the stock air filter flows plenty of air for 500hp and it pulls cold air stock. The removal of restrictions [sound traps and deadners ] from the stock intake hose would be the most cost effective measure.
I was considering their kit to replace my air susp with coil overs and coil springs. Has anyone had any experience with them..good bad ..? the whole kit with rear shocks is only $220 with free shipping on ebay.
the tornado is what techs would call a wallet flush [it flushes out the money]In reality most cold air kits do nothing for the horsepower other than change the airflow over the maf. for an example my friend had a 06 mustang 4.0 v6 he put on a cai the only change was the idle was more erratic. we...
A vacuum leak would make it run worse at idle not when accelerating. Sounds like a ignition miss. 05 also had problems with injectors- even had a recall but I think it was only to 100,000 miles.
I do these alot. I do it with the eng hot and an impact [3/8] usually come out fine. I also take out the pcm and bracket to do 3 and 4 on the passenger side. the Lisle tool works well to remove broken plugs. always blow out the debris [porcelin and such] after plug breaks and before using...
check the fluid level and sensor. you may be able to disconnect it if it is bad and the light may go off or you may have to jump across from wire to wire. If that turns it off then it is the sensor in the brake resevoir.
I work at a ford dealer and I use a combo in mine of 4 qts 5w20 and 2 qts of 15w40 both semi-synthetic motorcraft[castrol I think]. I used similiar in my 01 explorer and it worked well.
Just a thought, maybe a rear tank from a 93-96 f150 with 2 tanks. it would have a internal pump and they had a check valve that allowed the tanks to be used seperately. you would need a check valve for the regular tank also then a 2 way switch and wiring to the extra tank. maybe someone has one...
Check the wires from the connector to where it goes into the harness. if the signal wire[-] from the pcm is worn through and shorted it will be ok for a while after you replace the coil then it will get shorted again and it will misfire. usually this blows the coil also.
The easiest way to test it is to tap it with a hammer while it is acting up [idling slow] most of the time if it is bad the idle will pick right up. yes that is right you fix it with a hammer!!
they are fun! I know this post is old but with the right tool- long handle u shaped groove at rt angle they will come off. take the tool reach back and slide end over groove in hose connector- then push toward the heater core[ usually hear a snaping sound] hold against it and pull hose away. it...
these engines are easy to time so get it on tdc #1 you should use something to hold the cams[vise grips...] the chains will have 2 gold links to use to time it that line up with marks on the gears.
each door has a ajar sensor in the latch.you could disconnect and see if that stop the ajar lt if not you will have to jumper across the connector to shut it off. It all depends on if it is open with the door shut or closed.
the gasket you are refering to is the oil filter adapter/oil cooler mount. this gasket is between the block and the oil filter adapter and has coolant and oil running through it. it is not real hard but access can be a problem. 5.4 and 4.6s have this smae basic setup[remote mount or not] and...
it is on the top of the diff towards the front. it has a connetor 2 wires and 1 bolt. It is sometimes hard to get it out be careful not to break it off in the diff.
if it has rear air what is the readings from the back? I have seen some that the rear expansion valve was the culprit. if you suspect a leak ck the lines running to rear air have seen some rub holes through tubes.
