If you do change the oil make sure to check out if your X is limited slip. If it is, the Royal Purple already has the additive. Others may not. If not, add it. FYI
I checked and found play in both front wheel bearings today. They wiggle a bit both in the 12/6 plane and the 9/3 plane. Anyone think these could cause my noises?
I plan to order the set of Timkens from 1A auto @ $305 for both. Gonna try the Timken again..... hope I have better luck than with...
You can cut out the bad section, flare the ends, and put in a replacement piece from the auto parts store. The new ones come with flared ends and the fittings already on them. You will need a flaring tool. Ask at the parts store, they will hook you up.
Antenna then. My antenna was corroded/rusted where the coax plugs into the antenna at the fender. It cleaned up some but I really should replace it. It may have come unplugged at the radio too.
Drove about 65 again today. In an s curve at about 35mph it made noise again while turning right. This time it sounded like..... well..... imagine something like a drive shaft turning maybe 40 rpm. A really smooth finished shaft. Take a piece of flat stock and hold against it while its turning...
The reason I ask that is mine has an aftermarket radio that had a sub woofer set up. At first I thought the radio was bad. I was pushing the big volume button to try to turn it on and it turns out I had to push the tiny source button to get it to turn on. Had to download the manual to find out...
Is the CD changer in the radio itself or external in the console? If you are getting sound from CD's I would think its an issue with the radio's tuner. Are you sure you are pushing the right buttons for the radio to work?
Drove about 65 miles today and never heard the noise at all. I tried with and without compressor running. Maybe it fixed itself..... one can hope right?
If both lines are HOT then there is flow through the heater core. The issue is then that the blend door is directing cold outside air to the cabin rather than the hot air from the heater core. It closes over the core and stops air from flowing through the core and into the cabin.
My blend door...
From research I have found that the AC will run in any mode except panel and floor. Next outing I will run in one of those and see if it makes a difference.
Years ago I had an a/c compressor set up in a 4cyl car and the entire motor came to a schreeching halt with burning belt!!
This is possible since the ac runs in heat mode in most positions. Not sure which ones. Normally it's defrost only but I think the Expy is more....
Anyone know which...
I just went to the store. While driving about 20mph on perfectly smooth road, going straight, off the gas, the noise came and was intense! This time it sounded like some huge piece of metal on metal noise.... a groaning kinda. The suspension was not working so it must be in the drivetrain eh? I...
This first happened a couple weeks ago. It sounded just like the front tire hitting on an inner fender that had come loose and the tire had caught the edge. It lasted for only a few seconds but was pretty loud. That has been the loudest and longest so far. Now when I first start out cold, it...
On my 97 it looks almost like a female spline but I used an allen hex key and it worked fine. Thats to disassemble the caliper. To just remove it I used a 21mm if memory serves.
I just looked and mine say 44psi max and my tire guy said to run at 35 - 36 till I mount the plow. With plow on run 40. I think I will try maybe 38-40 and see how it drives. If no improvement I will stick to the original plan.
I have a depth gauge and monitor all my tires pretty close so I know...
Is that 44psi max rating on the sidewall of the tires? How are they wearing at that pressure? If they are overinflated they will wear the center out first.
Mine seems to have exponential in it. If you have ever used radio control vehicles, either planes or cars, you will know what I mean. Around center (straight ahead) the sensitivity and response is decreased by an adjustable amount. Once you exceed that it becomes more responsive again.
My Expy...
I found a guy on craigslist parting out a 97 F150 and he want's $50 for the instrument cluster that has a tach. He told me that I would have to get a dealer to flash it once installed.
Is this true? Not just plug and play?
How much should this cost if so?
I did pull my cluster and changed out...
