1997 4x4 XLT Expy with ABS and 4.6 engine. The brake line that
runs along the driver side frame rail is rusted and has sprung a leak.
Ford has discontinued this part. Has anyone replaced theirs recently
and can provide some advice as to how to replace. Any tips and tricks
would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't replaced mine but you should be able to go to a local parts store and buy the tubbing and a cheap bender for not to much.

Just go adn buy yourself a couple or one depending on length of tubing and as stated a cheap bender and route and bend yourself. Just be sure to get the right diameter and the ends of the tubing are double flared.

You can cut out the bad section, flare the ends, and put in a replacement piece from the auto parts store. The new ones come with flared ends and the fittings already on them. You will need a flaring tool. Ask at the parts store, they will hook you up.
