How Many Here Run F150 Bilsteins Front Shocks?

Not good. The rears lifted fine--1.75 inches according to my math. The fronts... well something went wrong. I am only getting .80 of an inch lift so the truck is going back tomorrow. Again, I used the F150 shocks, on the lowest setting (as instructed--which reads as 'stock height'...

How Many Here Run F150 Bilsteins Front Shocks?

They are both the same diameter. That picture of the sleeve is actually on the Expy. I can't seem to figure out, if I add the F150 sleeve to the Expy shock, will it give me 2.1 inches of lift (as opposed to 1.6), or if I remove it from the F150 shock it will give me (2.5 inches of lift (as...

How Many Here Run F150 Bilsteins Front Shocks?

I am very curious, because w/o it it might give me ONLY 2.5 inches of lift--which I would prefer--than a full 3 inches. I need someone to weigh in here...

    Confused about 4WD and eSLD

2wd is standard and AWD (often called "4wd") an option. To get proper 2WD, 4hi, 4low and terrain management (and maybe the e-Locker) I believe you have to go with either the FX4 package and/or the Heavy Duty towing. I have both, so have all. Like the Chevy, if you want 4 low it needs to be...

How Many Here Run F150 Bilsteins Front Shocks?

How Many Here Run F150 Bilsteins Front Shocks? We all know 95Scobby's Ruby Red beauty does, but who else does? I am quite sure you all are sick of my questions--trust me, I am too! I currently have both sets of 5100s (F150 and Expys) and notice the F150s have an extra metal sleeve (called a...

    Fuel Door Position

If you find one, please post it here. Last I heard none were avaialable for Gen 4s? As to your problem, a body shop guy may be able to "tweak" it back into line or if you are brave--yourself. But you are on your own as far as researching that and not turning it into a taco...

    Fuel Door Position

No, not normal. I'd be very concerned about water/debris ingress getting into the tank till fixed. For now you may want to consider adding something in place of where a gas cap would go, just to cover it (even if just a rag). YMMV

22" wheels to 20", spare too

If you keep the same tire height and width/spacing, no speedo correction and no rubbing. Also, probably a better selection of tires (both less-expensive and more off-road types). And more than likely, an improved ride by a bit more sidewall.

    Differential/Trans Breathers?

Getting ready to have a local mechanic do this and was wondering if anyone had additional experience as far as how to do the job correctly? I *believe* the front diff breather is already located in the engine well, so only the 1) transfer case 2) transmission and 3) rear diff are the ones to be...

You Guys With 33s & 34s--Where Are Your Spares?

Got under her and poked around. It is a 17 inch spare, a Good year 265/70R17--which is weak-tea to me being we have 18 inch tires. There is some space, but you would have to put the spare in a bit "cock-eyed" and 33s look to be not much of a problem, but 34s will require some boogeying around...

Well, Now We Wait... Bought More Struts and 34s...

My five 295/70-18 tires are on on the way Monday along with my lifting Jack. Bilstein F150s are arriving Tuesday. Fullsized spare FX4 rim should be here Wednesday. My install was for this Friday, but I may postpone, depending. My instinct says mount 1 tire on the spare rim and check the front...

Anyone Ever Try Bilstein 5100 F150 2WD Fronts for 2018-20 Expys?

I really DON'T want to lift my truck's front 3 inches, but 1.6 inches may not look "right" with 34s. 3 is too much, and 1.6 is not enough... Now if we do maths we know the the F150s raise the nose 3 inches and the Expys raise the truck nose 1.6 inches. It is worth noting that the max...

GEN 4 Safe Jack Lift Points & Places to Put Jack Stands?

WB, was not going to get that deep--but why? I was going to have an aftermarket company put on my shocks--are they that fragile? Is that knowledge common, or will I insult the mech by telling him not to use one?

Well, Now We Wait... Bought More Struts and 34s...

I decided to put my money where my mouth is, and pulled the trigger on even more stuff: 1) I finally decided on the Nitto 295/70-18 (34.3 x 11.7, 50.6lbs) Terra Grappler GII ATs. They are rated by most folks well, look good enough, and are D rated and light for size. And they will give me a...

3,000 Mile Fuel Report Part #2 (stock)

I never said I would be slowing down lol, especially with 70 mph speed limits. And if I do 50 mph I can get 28 miles to the gallon, but my big point is I wanted to get 22 mpg at 80 mph with the air on. Ford has pumped a lot of tech into this 9 turbo, puffed-up-hussy-peanut shaped engine, with...

You Guys With 33s & 34s--Where Are Your Spares?

One tire hitch company comes with an extension rated to 10K. I would not push it, but for light trailers I would trust it. Still, would love to stick a 34 inch tire partially deflated in the well for more discreet travel and access to the back...
