Safe Lift Points & Places to Put Jack Stands?

Just curious... I don't know how much I am going to commit to the trimming thing lol...

The factory lift points have an arrow cut in the frame that points to them. I put the jack stands near them. I usually slide the tire under the vehicle after it is off in cases where I am working under the vehicle. Don’t use an impact to loosen or tighten tie rod, linkage, ball joints, or sway bar bolts.

WB, was not going to get that deep--but why? I was going to have an aftermarket company put on my shocks--are they that fragile? Is that knowledge common, or will I insult the mech by telling him not to use one?

I mentioned it because it is listed in the Ford service manual for those items.
