Sounds like you paid to swap out a bad trans for another bad trans. Good luck when swapping junkyard transmissions. They are in the junk yard due to being wrecked, bad engine or bad trans.
Does it shift into 4th, OD and reverse manually?
Here is an opinion based on facts from an old school individual/instructor:
1) If the company doesn't provide dyno results comparing their product to factory - it is show only
2) Those that do provide the results you will probably see the most results near WOT
3) How often are you driving at...
Use any method that is easier for you. Place the rtv so that it will be between both the female and male portions of the connector once the plug is seated. The amount to use is dependent on how aggressive it is. Usually a little dab will do ya
Best place is a junk yard. If it is a pull it yourself yard you can get as much of the wiring you need. If you just need the connector those are available on line. Dorman may make a pigtail.
Electric doesn't scare me unless the voltage is north of 220v, then it has my undivided attention.
Pull fuse 21 in the central junction box and see if the lights go out.
Can you read & understand wiring diagrams?
Where are the "rednecks" when you need them? Real easy, use a little rtv silicone to hold the connector on. The more you apply the harder it will be to remove in the future. Just don't get any on the pins.
Usually when internals fail there is a distinct "you're spending big bucks" sound that is similar to nuts in a can. Seeing the OP didn't say that I doubt there has been a catastrophic internal failure.
The high end scanners will command specific functions to occur for testing procedures, simple...
Your skills, tools and shop will depend on whether you should attempt a rebuild. You can drop a manual in from an F-150 of the same year. It has been done on here a few years ago. Hit the search function.
When I've bought harnesses in the past they were very expensive, hundreds of $ for a partial. What is stopping you from repairing the existing harness?
Here is something to consider. All the automatic transmissions today are basically electronically controlled hydraulic machines. Due to government mileage mandates they have become confined into smaller areas and operate at higher temperatures than years ago. This requires synthetic trans fluid...
Transporter I would measure charging voltage at the output stud and case ground and at the battery for accurate results. Apps are nice but may not show voltage drop in certain parts of the circuit.
What you are describing is an intermittent electrical fault. Those can be anywhere in the...
Welcome to the site.
Your post indicates the transmission shop is going to diagnose the "no-start".
The key is only part of the anti theft system and will tell the pcm if the vehicle is being started by an authorized key. It does not disable the starting circuit. The engine will turn but not...
Do you want to diagnose the problem or toss parts until you get lucky?
Here are the diagrams for a 2004 4.6. The 5.4 should be similar if not identical.
If you are diagnosing, check voltage at the alternator output stud and alternator case. Should be above 12.6v with engine at idle. Red lead...
Why not get the shop manual off ebay, invest in some needed tools and save yourself some money?
It wouldn't hurt to swap out the timing setup since the cover is already off.
The is a lady on the site that also has a Navi who is in the middle of tearing down the upper end of the motor to...
Stupid parts tossing dealer. They are supposed to be able to make/repair connections as needed but most would rather sell parts than repair what is there. They may not list them in their parts database but that shouldn't stop them.
On RockAuto's website:
2004 - 5.4 Expy...
Scanners will not show electrical issues with the radio or cluster on that generation since they are not on the can bus.
Taking the dash off to look for loose connections may end up being a waste of time. Better to have a wiring diagram and see what is the common connection between the...
