My '06 was/is doing this also. As the weather is warming up, it's getting better. At times it doesn't want to leave center while going straight, and then if I slightly jerk the wheel to get past that point, it loosens up a bit. On slower turns, it doesn't want to return to center either. I...
Every door will get water in it as the felt strips can't fully prevent water from getting between the glass and the door. Just have to make it a habit of cleaning the bottom of the doors whenever you wash it.
Now that you mention it, this is true. I had an electric actuator that locked out the brake line pressure to the trailer when the vehicle was put into reverse. Forgot about that as the boat has been gone for a couple of years.
Tekonsha Prodigy/P3 is what I was thinking of. yellercobra is right about the electric brakes and water, as that is why boat trailers are usually surge brakes. I have heard of some being used and they disconnect the harness before backing in. But if it's a steep ramp, you now have no brakes to...
You would just need the 7 pin hookup at the hitch, and a electric brake controller and harness (comes with the towing package) that plugs in under the dash. I personally haven't run e-brakes, but I have heard of a couple really good controllers that aren't too expensive. I'll just have to try...
The problem may lie with the type of trailer brakes. Most boat trailers have surge brakes that won't allow the use of a weight dist. hitch that will be necessary to pull that much weight. Anything over 6000 lbs on a second gen Expy requires the use of a WDH. If the trailer has electric...
Not sure you will find bushings for the lower control arm. I searched, and came up empty. It is my understanding the bushings aren't replaceable on the second gens. Can they be removed with some work, probably, but not having any aftermarket parts to put in there is the issue.
To replace the upper arm ball joints, the entire upper arm needs to be replaced. The lower arm bj can be pressed out and replaced, but to replace the bushings, the whole lower arm has to be replaced. If you want to tighten it up, replace both upper and lower arms, along with the end links and...
What grit paper did you use to wet-sand? It looks like you need to use a more abrasive compound/pad to get rid of the sanding marks. Might need to use rubbing compound. Polish gets light scratches out, not sanding scratches.
What 6K said!!
Someone with production knowledge can better answer this, but the SD might not have had the 3V in 2005. I know Ford sometimes had carryover engines for one model, but not in another. So the Expy had the 3V in 2005, and the SD MIGHT have had a 2V. Just need to make sure...
Guys, what the heck is this forum coming to? I have slowly stopped coming on here daily as it has gotten to be a "he said, he said" place. There is some great information on this site, and I try to contribute where I can. I usually only post when I can be of assistance, or have a question...
IMO, shocks usually don't last 100K miles. If you don't think they need to be replaced, don't. But I would bet if you replaced them, you would be glad you did when it rides better.
Open the rear window and slide the lock mechanism on the hatch where the window latches to "lock" as if the window were shut. It will turn off the dome light. To unlock, simply hit the button to open the latch back up.
Where is the switch for the light located on the hatch/latch? I know the 2nd gen has a switch on the side of the hatch that can't be depressed without shutting it, but if it's in the latch mechanism, just push the latch closed with a screwdriver, and then unlock when you are done. I used to do...
This is very true. On top of that, I'm sure Duplicolor gets it pretty close, but I doubt it would be perfect. Ford also doesn't help much when they have slightly different shades of the same color, and call it the same name, as was mentioned earlier. The Dark Shadow Gray they had in the early...
Find a NAPA store that mixes their own paint. You can pick out any color you want, and they usually can mix it into a spray can. I picked up an OEM paint color in a spray can a year or so ago. They mixed it, then put it into a spray can and pressurized it right there.
An annoying squeak in the front end, and when I replaced an end link I noticed the ball joints needed to be done. I figured replacing the upper and lower arms, end links and tie rod ends was a good idea since I was at 102K and did a fair amount of heavy towing for 5 years in the summer. Rear...
Buy the $30 Lightning converter plug. It will convert it to the original input plug that was on previous Apple products. Just a way for Apple to make more money!! I had to buy 2.
