    Travel Trailers

If you are going by the numbers, you’ll hit the GVWR of the Expedition long before you hit the GCWR. Tongue weights are usually 12-15% of trailer weight, and the published numbers are dry. No propane, no batteries. Don’t forget the weight of the hitch. I think our trailer has a 550lb listed...

    Travel Trailers

I have an 8000lb GVWR trailer. I had a 2009 Expy Limited with the tow package. Towing the trailer could best be described as scary. At the scales, with no cargo, I was within 50lbs of the Expys GVWR. I traded the expy for a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 with the Duramax and I couldn’t be happier. We...

Where I installed the light bar, the curve would be a disadvantage.

    30" Light Bar

2013 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax. This wasn't an anti-Ford move by any means, towing our 8000 gvwr travel trailer with the Expedition gave me the heebie jeebies. The new truck is awesome.

    30" Light Bar

I sold the Expedition and bought a more appropriate tow vehicle. If anyone is interested in the light bar I used on the Expy, I'd probably sell it. I'm not sure I can mount it on the new truck.

    30" Light Bar

I just went out to the garage and took a few photos. The first is looking down at the top of the bar, taken through a grill slot. Second is a close up of the end of the light bar, and the third is from under the Expy looking up at where the bar is mounted. I would have preferred to go higher...

    30" Light Bar

Mine is a soye 240W bar that I believe is about 26" wide overall, and the mounting tabs fit onto the rails and I bolted in place. I'll try to get a photo.

    30" Light Bar

I attempted to get mine mounted higher, but the frame rails offered very solid mounting points. I have it wired so it is on with the high beams.

When I think Bilstein, I think yellow shocks with blue boots and logos.

    Quick towing question

Our 2009 Limited doesn't have an OD on/off. There is a tow/haul button, but I don't believe it locks out OD. And after rereading the 1st post, I see this thread is about 2004...

Retrofit Medcanical load leveling shocks to 2011

Retrofit Medcanical load leveling shocks to 2011

The spring will likely need to be changed to the spring that matches the new shock. My Expy doesn't have the Nivomats, but I had a Volvo Wagon that did and I'm guessing they are a similar concept.

    Towing Advice

If the dry hitch weight is 800lbs, you are going to be at least 1050lbs wet. I'm a a similar predicament and the dry hitch weight on my trailer is only 550lbs. Without fresh water in the tanks the tongue is about 775lbs. Don't forget to add 100lbs for the actual hitch. You'll get all sorts...

    Best tires for towing

What are your thoughts on the KO2 tires while towing? Was there a noticeable difference, or was it a "I just spent $1000 and there must be a difference" I'd like to minimize the squirmy feeling while towing our TT, but if spending a bunch of money will still only make the Expy marginal at...

    Thoughts on towing?

Weigh the truck and trailer ready to go and I'd bet you are over the GVWR on the Expy. I just bought a trailer that is about 6500lbs on a Cat Scale with minimum water in it and has 8000lb GVWR. With two adults, a 4yo boy and a 50lb dog we are within 150lbs of the GVWR and 100lbs over on rear...
