    TSB 23-2250 - 2018-2023 Expedition/Navigator + Other Models - 10R80 Auto Trans + Others - Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift

I think I experienced my first real "klunk" braking to a stop (firmly, not hard, not soft). It was a VERY obvious screwed up downshift. Hard "klunk". It's going in for an oil change in 150 miles. So I'll bring it up then. Oh well. Welcome me to your ranks.

    TSB 23-2250 - 2018-2023 Expedition/Navigator + Other Models - 10R80 Auto Trans + Others - Harsh/Delayed Engagement And/Or Harsh/Delayed Shift

There's 2 reasons I got the 7yr PremiumCare plan when I bought my 23. #1 All of the electronics in this thing. #2 Transmission issues.

    DC to DC charger wiring

I just used the 7-pin. My DC-DC is only pulling 18A, It's a 14.5V (15A max) DC-DC converter. So the most it'll ever pull is 18A I use 14.5V to charge my lithium camper batteries. 15A isn't a lot, but usually it's just topping them off as I drive to the camp ground.

    DC to DC charger wiring

I have a 15A DC-DC charger in my camper. It pulls 18A from the 12V DC charge line on the truck. Works just fine. It's going to depend on how big a DC-DC charger you plan on using. I think the charge line is fused at 30A on my 2011 and 20A on my 2023.

    2025 ford expedition redesign

I'm anxiously awaiting the my25 release. I have my fingers crossed for a hybrid. If a hybrid is available, I'm trading my 23 for it. Period. In my dreams that the hybrid is an option on whatever engine is available for the trim level. So instead of the F-150s hybrid on top of the base 380HP...

2010 Expedition, starting issues. Starter replaced twice, need next culprit...

This thread has given me a few more things to check. I'm having a similar issue with my 2011 XLT.

    3-port vs 2-port catch cans

After owning the J & L for a while, I' metting just a teaspoon/tablespoon of oil every couple 1000 miles. Still adding Techron every month though.

    automatic transmission heating

235!? I've never seen those temps slowly pulling a trailer uphill during a traffic jam. It's like it's not circulating trans fluid to the heat exchanger at all. What are your engine coolant temps?

Is the transmission oil heat exchanger too weak to protect 10R80 transmission?

I tow a 6500# camper a lot during the summer. This was the first summer with the 2023. I watch my coolant and trans temps (Using Torque Pro) and I don't think I've seen them over 200-205. If they were even close to 215-220, that thing would be getting an aux trans cooler one way or another.

Hellwig 7696 is installed on 2024 Expedition

I've been looking at these Helwig bars for my '23. But I'm holding off until the '25 comes out. If it's a hybrid, I'm trading and the '25 will get the new bars. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind a little more roll stiffness. Don't get me wrong, my '23 feels damn good. But better is better

    Automatic Running Boards

That's exactly why I put mud flaps on mine. I figure it's only a matter of time.

Has anyone had a smooth shifting 10 speed? Do they all do the occasional clunk?

My '23 RARELY experiences a "clunk". So far I'm pretty lucky with my 10sp. But I only have 8,600 miles on it.

PowerStop, Hawk, Akebono, EBC, Bosch, Centric and even Brembo brake pads. So many options with so little reviews and info!

Cold bite is better on the z23s than the z36s. Not by a lot. But both are very good daily drivers. If you're going to push the brakes (sudden trailer brake failure) the the z36s should outperform the z23s. But I've only had one unbraked tailer event. So i can't compare. My z36s lasted really...

PowerStop, Hawk, Akebono, EBC, Bosch, Centric and even Brembo brake pads. So many options with so little reviews and info!

On the less extreme are powerstop Z23s. I put them on the truck for my daughter at the next pad change because she doesn't tow. Great cold bite and modulation with smooth release characteristics. Probably the best daily driver for non-heavy duty applications.

PowerStop, Hawk, Akebono, EBC, Bosch, Centric and even Brembo brake pads. So many options with so little reviews and info!

I've used both Hawk LTS and Powerstop Z36 pads on my 2011 with significant towing every summer. The Z36 pads are very competent and always felt like the same braking. No fade. The Hawks were on another level. More aggressive. Braking down and exit ramp from 75-ish with steady pedal pressure was...

    Wife wants my Expy

No EVs. Not a fan of the cult of Musk. Although, the Explorer is still on Sync 3. So no wireless android auto. I've never read a good thing about the adapters either. So the search goes on. Maybe she'll end up with an Expedition Limited after all.

    Wife wants my Expy

She likes my Limited. Leather, toys, power. And we don't need 2 Expys. I think she'll be happy in an Explorer ST or Platinum. If she INSISTS on an Expedition... I'll give her mine and I'll get a 2024 SPP. But, I don't think she'll go for that. :-D

    Wife wants my Expy

I don't think she wants an actual expedition, per se. Just an SUV with POWER. Any way. Can you get a Limited Expy (400HP) for 72k? I'll have to get on the configurator. Edit: Looks like a bare bones Limited is $71k. But you gotta have SOME stuff. 4x4, towing makes it $75k, Dolled up a bit...

    Wife wants my Expy

So my wife drove my Expy to work the other day. Her car was getting serviced. Apparently she got into the gas a little. She was like "Boy! I stepped on the gas getting into traffic and WOW it really took off. Can I have it?" So I said sure, if I can buy myself a new one (SPP). But now she's...

    Swapping 4.10s into '23?

I do have the tow package and the 3.73s. It's just that this 400hp truck is lazier than I'd like off the line. 4.10s seemed like an easy bet since the previous gen navigator had them as an option. Out of the hole, my 2011 (with 3.31s) will get the jump on my 23 until things get rolling. Mostly...

    Swapping 4.10s into '23?

I have a '23 Limited stealth (Not SPP). Is it possible to swap in 4.10s and reprogram the ECU? I also have the eLSD. Would it interfere with it? I'd love it if it got off the line better. What else would get screwed up other than a little hit to fuel mileage? Anyone swapped to higher...

What exactly does Sport Mode do?

When I go into sport, i switch it back to 2H. I still need to test out the different modes and tire scrubbing under controlled conditions. I love the way CCD tames body movement.
