    Pre-Warranty Expiration Checklist

This would be the cam timing phasers. It is a well know problem with a TSB out there. I would read thru the current 2018 Ford Expedition Technical Service Bulletins and see if yo have any of the issues so you can get it done now- https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Expedition/2018/tsbs/

Expedition as a TOAD & Auto Parking Brake

We tow our 18 Expedition Max Platinum behind a 43' coach. I also noted our Exy would auto set the parking brake, but never had it happen when setting up to tow. Generally just when parking after a drive. The two conditions that it should auto set the parking brake are parking on an...

Do you really need an extended warranty?

Well, I seldom if ever purchase an extended warranty. But, as others have said with the electronics on this vehicle I wanted one. I purchased it from Lombard and hoped I never needed it. I now have 55,000 miles on my 18 Max Platinum. So far I have had all of the cam phasers replaces as well...

Real world differences between the Limited and Platinum

Ford issued a Technical Service Bulletin for this issue in May 2019. Sadly, many dealers don't search for the source of problems when customers complain. TSB 19-2162 Power Liftgate Opens And/Or Closes Uncommanded While In Park Models: 2018-2019 Expedition Limited 2018-2019 Expedition MAX...

    Inside rear view mirror destroyed

Well, as an update..... I checked 3 online sources. Two said one mirror was correct and the other gave a different part number. I even tried calling and was given two different part numbers on two different calls...... I pulled down the existing mirror and found the original part number. I...

    Inside rear view mirror destroyed

Yea, that’s not gonna happen. I don’t blame the dogs for my stupidity. Plus, they are a lot less expensive than kids......

    Inside rear view mirror destroyed

I’m just glad it wasn’t the steering wheel or the seats.....

    Inside rear view mirror destroyed

It’s bad, chewed up big time. There is no salvaging this one.... Once the sun is fully up I’m going to look more, but there is also a wire coming down from the console that goes to some sort of sensor that appears to have been double stick taped to the forward side of the mirror. Looking...

    Inside rear view mirror destroyed

OK, our fault..... Left the dogs in the Expedition this afternoon in the yard. One is afraid of gunshots and apparently heard some. He chewed up the inside rear view mirror. Don’t know why that part got his attention. I think it’s this one, but.... who really knows. FU5Z-17700-Q...

Use 360 camera as dash cam

Any law enforcement agency that has a dedicated traffic investigations unit (state police, large agencies with traffic homicide units) already have the equipment to download any available data that is stored in that year/make/model vehicle. The most common would be speed at impact, but driver...

    Ignition on pwer source

OK, on my F-250 Ford is nice enough to provide a spare fuse powering a blunt cut wire under the dash for customer accessory use. Any idea if they do the same for our 2018 Expedition?

    Trailer TPMS?

To be honest, I use a valve stem TPMS for my two camping trailers and am very happy with it. It has saved me three times now and I figure it has paid for itself.

    Hardwired a radar detector

I haven’t checked yet (no need) but Ford usually has a spare fuse and wire capped off under the dash for such installations. I just installed a dash cam in my F250 and there was a spare fuse in the box that fed a blunt end capped wire taped to the OBD2 wire.

    Insurance Costs?

Well to be honest, with 3 cars, 2 on road golf carts, a utility trailer and 2 towable campers on the policy I never looked at line items for any single vehicle. We have 100,000/300,000 with an umbrella above that. We just traded a 2011 Lexus 450h for the 18 Expedition Max Platinum and the...

Spare Tire Specs 2018 Expedition Platinum

Yes and yes. Just because you call it a "spare" doesn't mean it's any better or worse than the other three tires on the car. A full size spare is just that, a full size normal tire. Nothing more, nothing less There is a difference between a full sized spare (normal tire) and a space saver...

    Catalytic Converter question

Yup, you want a good mom & pop mechanic shop or family run exhaust shop. Both are hard to find and worth their weight in gold. Their are aftermarket cats available for most vehicles, but not all. From my "running a fleet days", one of our drivers decided to take a shortcut over a curb. Took...

Spare Tire Specs 2018 Expedition Platinum

I beg to differ. I have been a fleet manager responsible for hundreds of cars at one time. When possible we purchased full size spare tires rather than space savers. A full size spare is not a “temporary” tire. It's the real thing, rated for mileage and speed like all the other on the...

Spare Tire Specs 2018 Expedition Platinum

Is there really a compact spare under there? Everything I read says its a full size spare under there which negates the caution for a compact spare.
