Not all information has been released yet, for all the details, you must wait until tomorrow. The 5.0 liter Coyote V-8 could still be offered as an optional extra.

Nevertheless, if Ford decided not to offer the 5.0 liter Coyote V-8 for the U324 and U354, I’m sure you’ll see it return when the Expedition gets a full clean-sheet redesign for 2017.

Man - the interior and updated electronics are what I really want. Wish I had it in my '11.

Just FYI, this facelift/mechanical update is expected to last for three model years (2015, 2016, and 2017), with the all-new aluminium Expedition arriving sometime in 2017 for the 2018 model year.

That’s about the same timeframe Ford expects the 3.0 liter 24-valve DOHC Commonrail Direct Injection "Lion" V-6 twin-turbo diesel to be ready.

I don't know how I feel about that front end. I do wonder though if those headlights will be able to be retrofitted into my '08, they appear to be the same size.

As for the interior, I was hoping for a new dash with soft touch material but I'm glad its finally getting MyFord Touch since it was one if not the last retail vehicle to get it (Heck even Super Duty got it before the Expedition).

From my understanding the trim levels will be:

XLT
Limited
King Ranch
Platinum

2015 looks good

Good they kept product close to Expy we all love. Motor is the big shift. I think we all expected that to happen and hope for the best. MPG should be improved and that's positive. The fact that the changes are subtle should help current Gen 3 on re-sell value too.

I'm surprised the 2.7 Ecoboost isn't offered. I bet the 3.5 will be standard, with the 2.7, 5.0, and 6.2 as options.

According to AutoBLog http://www.expeditionforum.com/f39/2015-new-expedition-4th-gen-22910/ "Eco-Boost only" NOOOOOO. Guess when it comes time to replace my Expedition with something newer, it'll have to be a suburban :( I can not stand that Eco-Boost v6. It drives like poop (in my opinion) and sounds terrible compared to a v8 growl.

I do quite like the front end though. Reminds me of a Mercedes GL class. May even consider doing a front end conversion if its not too difficult. The hood and fenders look the same.

The 6.2 "Boss" V-8 won’t be offered. It has actually been discontinued for the 2015 F-150. Only the SVT Raptor will use that engine, for now.

If any engines make the options list, they will be the 2.7 "EcoBoost" V-6, 5.0 "Coyote" V-8, and the 3.0 "Lion" V-6 turbo diesel

Ford has announced that the "Lion" V-6 turbo diesel program has been revived, and will be ready around 2017 or so. So the next fourth-generation Expedition may get it.

I'd personally prefer the 2.7L anyways. I am not a racer, nor do I have a heavy foot. I keep my exhaust factory so I'm not worried about a growl. Just want better mileage.

If a turbo diesel makes it into the Expy, can you imagine the range? I can get over 500 highway miles from a tank in my EL. I would think a diesel could get another couple hundred miles out of a 33 gallon tank!

Forgot to mention the 2015 Expedition will also get Pull-Drift Compensation (PDC) as standard equipment.

PDC allows the Expedition to detect a crosswind and compensate for it. It also detects "crowned" road surfaces and compensates for that as well.

Also know for the first time, a lower (numerically higher) 4.10:1 final-drive axle ratio will be available.

Updated the original post to reflect that.

This 2015 mid-life cycle update for the third generation (U324 and U354) is just a holdover until the all-new fourth generation arrives.

Ford has confirmed in three years the Expedition will transition to an all-aluminium body (like the F-150), based on the new aluminium F-150’s architecture. It’s been under development for some time now. Development of the aluminium F-150 itself started back in 2009. That’s 6 (six) years of development.

Also, an Expedition Hybrid version with parallel electric rear-drive in the works, and will require a new platform. The current Expedition’s T1 platform (chassis) which first appeared for 2007, isn’t really setup for that.

The forth generation Expedition is due to arrive around 2016 or 2017 calendar year, either for the 2017 or 2018 model year. Give or take a year.

aluminium, my 2001 has an aluminium hood, and it's the worst looking body panel on my truck. I really think Ford will hurt themselves with the change.
As I look at the 2013 F-150's setting in my local Ford dealer's lot, with even the 5000 dollar rebate all the V8s are gone, and the ecoturd's are just collecting dust. Hey let's put it into the Expedition that is 6000 LBS and make it the only power plant for one or two years. Now we will discontinue it cuz sales fell to new lows. Every one switched to the SUB cuz of the V8 and the tow capacity
who wants to tow with a V6 pushing over 3000 rpm in tow/haul mode
