I have random intermittent clicking under the dash. I only notice in in park while engine on right after start up or after parking. any ideas or experiences with it? Only thing I know that isnt working is Cruise control. but never dove into it to see the issue. I can do the diagnostic if needed.

Possibly actuators for your HVAC doors? Do all the positions work, defrost, floor, etc...? Pull the glovebox and then cycle the fresh air intake back and forth, you should be able to see the vent door open and close.

Do you have automatic temperature control? There is a reset/test procedure for the EATC that might give you error codes, not sure if this is the exact match but might send you in the right direction if it is EATC

manual AC. I have had that before. this sounds like a relay and its kind of erratic and almost at the cluster or steering column.

So I did a little more digging. The clicking is in the steering column and it is related to the brake pedal. I have a mess under there. (another thread perhaps). If i slightly touch the brake pedal and apply the slightest pressure I get the clicking. I noticed it in the steering column. Shifter release solenoid? It sounds pretty loose and springy and gives me a few more clicks after letting off the brake. I am talking even if I push the brake sideways.

There is a square black device attached to the break pedal with a plug that goes into it. Start your truck, put your hand on the box, press break pedal. If you feel a click, that is most likely what you are hearing. It is the swicth that activates break lights and unlocks shifter.

It could be causing the noise but the noise is in the steering column. Just seems too loud and its quite annoying. I replaced the cruise control switch (sw5957) that releases the cruise control via brake yesterday while under there.

Here's a thought! Why not pull all the panels around the steering column and listen/ feel till you hear it. I don't like guessing, and the others are doing just that. And why is their a mess under there? That could be what's triggered your noise. Report what you find.

It is the the shifter lock. brake pedal is super sensitive. Its a metal latch and its metal to metal. the slightest touch or vibration will send signal to latch and unlatch repeatedly even without toughing the pedal. replacing the switch attached to the brake pedal arm. probably looks like I have my hazards on while driving down the road. The wiring mess under the dash... thats another thread. bunch of cut wires and sometype on interlock installed before i got it. Looks theft related. Not trying to disable my truck. Its only gotta last for a few more months and Im getting rid of it.
