Hello, im new to the forum and theres a lot of good info here, also some funny stuff. Im looking for a new vehicle and decided on either an 06 Nav(05 depending on condition) or an 09 exp. The yr nav to me is beautiful truck but the exp has more features. Does anyone have experience driving these trucks, do they ride/handle alike? Does anyone know of any issues they may have? I know i gotta Test drive them to see, i just wanna gauge what you all are experiencing first. Also, ive read a lot of threads here but not many threads really explain the drive difference between 2nd and 3rd gen trucks. Thank you, any and all input id appreciated.

Never had navigator old body style but i had 2007 navigator and 2011 expedition. Now i have 2013 navigator. I like navigator more because it has nicer interior lights and hid projector lights just more rare and looks better to my taste but costs more. Those years you are looking have problems with spark plugs.

The interiors look better with the nav option... Do the 09s have the spark plug issue as well?

I looked at the Navigators but couldn't get past this, lol.

It reminds me of 80's electronics.

Plus for whatever reason, they all seem to have tan interiors which I hate.

Like those years of expedition have better interior lol. At least in navigator they have power window switches on console not doors so they dont get water in. You get hid lamps more fake wood so it looks more presentalbe then 2005 expedition.

I test drove an 08 el 120k on the odom...ride super smooth but one thing that stuck out to me was the body felt somewhat more jittery than it should, the body had some sort of constant shudder even if a little... Ive been in plenty of 2nd gen expos and current gm trucks and the body never shuddered unless on the baddest of roads...is the body shudder normal

The 06 Nav would have a 4 speed auto and the 09 Expy has a 6 speed. That may get you an extra MPG or two.

I've been very happy with the response of the 6 speed in my 07 EL EB.

If im recall, the 05/06 navs were updated to receive the 6sp tranny while the same yr expys received a new engine but same tranny. Im guessing that particular truck i drove had the shimmy issue?
