Hello all. I just purchased a 06 eddie bauer expy. Water is leaking from the rear glass. Ford has replaced this seal twice since new. (I ran a vin report on warrenty claims.) It seems to me that there is no adjustment on the rear glass. Is there a better aftermarket glass rubber seal thats more pressure or thicker than fords? I have looked online alittle and didn't find much but universal ones. I love this expy. i dont think that people have any idea how nice and confortable these things are. i wish i own one from new.

Thanks for any help on this.

I have never had a leak on the back glass on my '06. Could the glass itself be warped? Where exactly is it leaking? I have heard of people inserting rubber tubing inside the seal to expand the seal to make it thicker.

i dont know if theres anything thicker that you could use...at the top of the window...is that where the strip meet? if so i would suggest taking off and reapply to have the ends be at the bottom...if you can take a pic that may help us brainstorm

nope not leaking from hinges that i can tell. water poors in at the top of window between the glass and weather strip. The seals are at the bottom. I have read many people having had this trouble. I remember reading about this sometime ago. Being that ford tried to fix this thing three differnt times over 70K mile, i would think this would have effected more. Oh well. I ordered a new seal from ford. Gonna tare into everyhing attached to the glass to fix and maybe solve why thay are leaking. I guess if this is the only problem with this truck i am doing good. oh and yes there is no gap or light shining throu the rubber when the glass is closed either. I have checkd and checked. It is just not a tight seal. Thanks for all of your inputs. Any ideas, pass them along!!! thanks

Update

Hello all, finally got time to fix my back glass leak.

tore everything apart, found where the seal goes over the pinch weld. The metal was all wavy. I took a adjustable wrench around the whole weld seam, bent it outword so the weather strip fit tighter to the glass. Amazing, the dealer three different times has never been able to fiquire why it was leaking. Solved!!! Thanks for everyones input.

I've been having this same problem. I'm gonna go try the pinch weld fix first. The seal on mine doesn't appear to be damaged but it is leaking pretty good.

I had a leak in my rear glass, the seal didn't make good contact with the glass. In my case, it was deformed hinges, bought a pair of second hand hinges and all was good after.

Glad it worked out

Another option is to add weatherstrip to the glass itself, so it seals rubber on rubber. One of the reasons why german cars are so quiet. I'm going to do all my doors soon.

That's what I was thinking id try.... I just was at the car wash and water and soap poured down inside and got my rear wiper motor covered in water

Mine would leak once in a while..I put a thick coating of dielectric grease on the rubber as a temp fix to help seal. I'm going to buy this and see how it works

Come to think of it maybe that's why the rear wiper motors are known for failing.

Exactly why I think mine must have failed before I owned it lol... also the old linkage that hold the wiper to the Window was completely corroded before I replaced it... Couldve also been from that
