06 Radio Quirk

I have an 06 with the Nav, DVD, and CD changer. All works well except that sometime in the last year I am not able to access the menu to control balance, treble, and bass. The bass has disappeared and it sounds like a tin can. When you go to Menu, Audio Options on the soft keys, you cannot get into any of the menus. We did get the combinations of keys from Ford to run diagnostics and all check out including operation of soft keys. Since all other functions work, it almost has to be a software issue. How do I find out if there is a way to reload/update software for radio? I believe the 06 was made by Visteon. I was told if you take it in, they pull the head and send it somewhere and it comes back complete with a mortgage to pay for the repairs

If I were you, I would seriously think about switching to an aftermarket HU. You will get a better HU and it will probably be cheaper or just as much.
