12’ Front Struts

My Chilton says like 400 ft lbs torque for the lower front strut bolt. Is this correct, seems a little high even for a stretch bolt.

Just crank it down with your breaker bar, it won't go anywhere.

That value is in the ballpark, the stretch assures assembly retention. Here is a snip-it from Ford's Repair Manual stating torque value (2010 EXPY):

I agree. Not a torque happy person.

Thank god I do my own stuff. I've personally seen a wheel and tire taking a trip on it's own while the vehicle it just so recently parted ways from was crabbing down the road.....one corner way up in the air, and all because the guy at the tire place used an impact instead of a torque wrench. (cliff's note....air regulator on the guy's impact was bumfuzzled....was way down on line pressure. it was my dad's truck. New ball joint and brake rotor later, plus the tire back on, we were good to go.)

I don't mind hacks...as long as they don't touch my rides, or I'm near their "victims" on the road..

Been using an electric wrench twice a year for snow tires for 60 years and on many other vehicles plus I always grease the lugs so they don't bind in a pinch and NEVER HAD A LOOSE NUT.

Yeah, well, if you grease the lugs, then you stand a good chance of over torquing them.
