I don't know how the insurance companies work where the OP is located, but the REAL question is if they will be willing to pay for the multi-thousands of dollars for the repairs, which for a 12+ year old vehicle is unlikely...and will most likely total it out instead, especially if the frame is bent, since the vehicle will
NEVER, EVER drive properly after that, regardless of what some shops will tell you...
And they would most likely would insist on the work being done by a qualified repair shop, with OEM or similar new replacement parts (not from a junk yard), so they can at least try to hold them accountable it if's not done correctly...
I know a few years ago, when 3 of my vehicles suffered just some hail damage, they were all totaled out because of it....One was a 2011 Acadia, one a 2012 Caddy CTS4, and the other was 2022 Grand Cherokee. Mind you there was ZERO mechanical or structural damage, only the exterior body panels, 1 windshield and 1 headlight assembly...
The one good thing about all of this: They paid me almost as much for the Caddy & Cherokee as I paid for them originally, and about 80% of what I paid for the Acadia, which really helped out when we went to get replacement vehicles, hahaha
And last year when I had a low speed bump & grind with a guard rail in my '11 and damaged the lower section of the front bumper (the part that wraps around under the headlights & grill), I filed a claim for it, & my insurance company had me take it to one of their "Authorized" body shops... For about 2 hrs of actual lablor + parts, the final repair bill was
$3800
