1997 Eddie Bauer - single DIN?

Does the 1997 Expedition really require a single-DIN head unit? The factory head unit faceplate is definitely a double-DIN height. But I checked on-line and Crutchfield says it's a single-DIN opening...?

There is a bracket inside of the dash that supports the oe radio. My install kit came with the same clamp to hold onto that bracket when using a single din. if you go double din, you will have to remove this bracket.

on a 97 you will also have to cut the dash surround. The opening is not quite a double din size.

so for factory fit single...slight mod and double will fit
