First things first, Hello guys!! I have read a lot on this forum but just joined.
2000 E.B. 5.4 is driving me absolutely insane.
Wife went to leave her sister's house, truck started fine, she put it in reverse moved about 15 feet and the truck died and would not start again. Got it towed home and the only thing that happened when you turned the key is all dash lights went out. First thought was starter solenoid. Went and grabbed a new starter solenoid and put it in. When I hook the battery back up the starter will spin but not engage. If I let the solenoid hang while still wired up nothing happens when I hook the battery back up. Turn the key I hear the starter spinning and the solenoid clicking, mount it back to the starter motor hook the battery back up and the motor spins until I un-hook the battery. Did a little test, let the screws out where the solenoid mounts to the motor and it acts as if it were not mounted but as soon as I tighten the solenoid back to the motor as soon as it gets power the starter just keeps spinning again...I am at the end of my patience with this and thinking a gallon of gas and a pack of matches is my best solution, someone please save my well deserving Expy.
