2000 EB Driver side Door Lock

My 2000 Eddie B. drivers side door lock motor (?) makes a whining sound when I use it either through keyless or remote. All other locks work fine. I have to manually lock and unlock it. The autolock when vehicle is put in drive doesn't work either. It sounds to me the motor is bad. Can I do that myself if I order the part. ? I know I'll have to take the door panel off, but I hear that is pretty tough by itself. I haven't had it for long but I love my 2000!!!

Never removed one personally but I cannot imagine that it is too hard.

You can buy one from your dealer, an online Ford parts place or get a salvage unit for your local salvage yard.

I prefer the salvage yard because it allows you to "practice" on a scrap truck before trying it on your own.

Thanks alot, I'll try a salvage yard first. I don't want to wreck the door panel either.
