Hi, new to the forums here and possibly looking at purchasing a 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L. Just want to know what all of you have to say about these vehicles. Are they good reliable? is the motor any good? insurance company is writing off my 2000 Ford Mustang and seeing as how i got a rather large family the mustang wasnt really practical at all but came across this ad for the expedition. So any and all input on the vehicle is greatly appreciated.
little info on it that the truck is from out of the city that i live in about 2.5hrs away. and they do a commute to the city rather regularly so there is about 300xxxkm on it. this is a worry to me but again just wanna know what other owners think and feel and please be honest.

The 5.4 is a strong motor, and fairly reliable with regular maintenance. With over 190K miles on it, I would be leery unless the price is right. If the owner can show you a good maintenance history, then the gamble might pay off. Make sure the plugs have been changed and that none of them have blown out requiring the heads to be repaired. Check all hoses (especially vacuum hoses) and that none of them are cracked. Make sure there is no whine from the differential(s) and that the 4x4 works as it should, and the tranny shifts strong, and under load (going up a hill) the OD doesn't surge under light throttle.

Good luck. These vehicles are nice to have and drive well when in proper working order. Some people just drive them into the ground and don't maintain them well enough.
