2000 expy front end clunking

I have a 2000 expedition the problem is that I have a thudding noise coming from the front end I take the drive shaft out goes away it only does it sometimes so its come and go usually at slow speeds then once accelerated goes away almost like a binding and slipping affect put new driveshaft in still the same does anybody have any clues
