I dropped my trans pan and replaced the fluid with Mercon Valvoline fluid. There wasn't anything dirty in the pan and I cleaned it out well before I put it back. I checked my fluid level on the trans and it is a little on the high end of the hot fluid level zone. it started making a hum that happens at around 2000 rpm give or take and appears to make the same noise at every gear. I can't figure out what it could be. It sounds like its coming from the trans. Any ideas?

Mercon V?

Valvoline makes a Mercon V compatible fluid (transmax I believe) but from what I've read you only want to use straight (and yes more expensive) Mercon V... Might be the source of the sound but an indicator something may be worn and worth keeping an ear out for should it continue or go away once fluid is changed
