Ok, I have read a lot about the dreaded piston slap, but I can't figure this one out.
-The noise happens only on startup when cold, lasts about 5 minutes
-It will make the noise even when hot outside, but for not as long.
-I use Mobil-1 High Mileage Synthetic 5w-20
-Every time I go to Colorado in the winter, in close to zero degree weather, it doesn't make any noise on startup
---EDIT---The noise goes away when I hit the gas
If it was a piston slap, it shouldn't it be worse when it's really cold out?
If it was lack of oil in the cylinder, shouldn't the synthetic keep it lubed up until fresh oil starts getting circulated?
