I know there's a thread on here somewhere showing the install of a double din in a 2nd gen but I can't find it for the life of me.

I know part of the dash structure needs to be cut away so I'd like to find those pics for guidance.

Double din

I installed a double in my 06 EB a few years ago. I definitely didn't cut the dash or anything. Other than removing two screws on the top of the gauge area, I don't remember having to do anything other than pulling the plastic part off. It was surprisingly easy but I think I tore the rubber boot on the shifter.

I was under the impression it was a 1 1/2 DIN but I double checked on Crutchfield and it does show 2 din as fitting so I guess I was mixed up with 1st Gen.

I helped my son install a double-din unit in his 2005 F150 last weekend. Fit like a charm and easy to do, other than the extra work needed for the steering wheel control module.

i have a double-din unit and they is no modification needed for 2nd gens 03-06...there are 2 phillip screws under dash on driver side...take those out...once you do that you want to move the gear selector down as far as possible before disconnecting batter to install...the entire face of the radio area and dash is clipped in...i advise to start by the drivers door by pulling on the top and work your way around to light switch...ther are 2 connectors to remove for the lights...continue working around the top towards the radio pulling dash out...on the bottom right side of steering wheel there are connectors that need to be removed before going to a/c controls...check all around to ensure all connectors are removed...if not disconnect them...

if the gear selector is all the way down you should be able to remove the dash by pulling up with no problems...if not you will have difficult time getting it out...you may need to tug on it a little but it should be anything compared to pulling dash out of clips...pull up and the radio is exposed held by 2 screws on each side....

once installed...i advise to put dash back in reverse order as it will go in easier with the gear selector down...it will slide right into place...connect all connectors...snap back into place...

i take mine off a lot with my audio upgrades and gps antenna which is tucked under my dash behind radio...no probs with it there so if anyone says it needs to be on top of dash...in the windshield...on roof...it doesnt
