Glad you got it repaired. Haven't heard a lot about the blend doors on the second gens. Any tips for the future if necessary?

2004-2006 manual HVAC - Dealer quoted 10 hrs. as that is what the "book says", a Ford tech said same thing. Have to remove dash etc, remove heater box blah,blah....

No No No!

Set blend control to center.
Open glove box you can see door motor to the left on top of box.
Remove dash bezel, unplug the three HVAC controls, remove radio.
Reach in opening and remove screw from motor
Reach in glove box opening and remove wire plug and 2 screws
Motor comes out the center opening with some manuvering, new one goes in the same way - this took the longest to do. Whole job start to finish 1 hour. I could do it again in probably 30-45 min.

2004 expedition blend door

Can this method be used to replace the front blend door as well as the blend door motor in a 2004 Expedition? I want to try the repair myself instead of taking the vehicle to a repair shop or dealer.

The "No No No!" reply, saved me. Thanks!

I removed my 2003 Expedition blend door actuator (aka, motor or switch) without removing the dash. It was a little painful removing 3 screws and the actuator, even more difficult putting the actuator back in, but it saved me, because I was would have paid to have the dash removed.

Only problem so far is that I hear a click when I go from red to blue on the knob. hmmmm? The actuator didn't seem to fit in the blend door slot perfectly. I thought about adjusting the gears inside the actuator, but I probalby will not do that unless it fails again.

Sorry to bring this back to life, but does anyone have a part number for the front blend door actuator? I found YH-1767, but wanted to confirm as I need to change it this weekend.
