2006 Ford Expedition Crank no start

I have a 2006 Ford Expedition 93K miles. I’ve never had serious issues with it. My truck started up fine on the way to pick my wife up from work but I stopped to get gas and went to start it and it wouldn’t turn over. It’s never done that before ever.. I had used starting fluid to see if I had spark and it started right up but died 2 minutes later. What could the issue be?

The most common fuel starvation issue with the later year Gen2 is the fuel pump control module corroding out. It's back there in the rear wheelwell on the driver's side.
