Ive done lots of searching here, but it seems that most of the folks that have done a suspension conversion are the gen1 crowd. Not many stories or comments about doing such on the gen2

My 2006 4x4, is starting to experience problems with the air ride system. As I need it reliable for occasional towing I am about to have to do something.
As anyone would, I'd like to do it for the most reasonable cost but also have a good product. I have no plans to raise it or lower it, but rathar keep it at would be the stock 4x4 height.

I see people recommend kits, monroe, strutmaster, etc. Though I have had great past success with Monroe and lifetime warranty, the only option I see through them (for 2006) is buying the pre-assembled strut coilover units individually. Does anyone know of a source that offers those as a kit vs buying individually?
Strutmaster appears to be a favorite as well but much more expensive in order to get units with any sort of warranty.

.

any info appreciated.

Never got any feedback on this. ended out buying the Monroe Quick strut units. Monroe gives lifetime warranty on the complete unit. As we will likely keep this truck a long time like we did the last one, having a warranty is a good thing. Advance Auto matched the Rockauto price of $113 each.

Yeah I did see some of those. But like you asked was kinda wanting to hear a referral from someone that might have gotten them and could vouch for the quality.

Big thing for me was a decent warranty with a known source that would stand behind it. I plan on keeping the truck a long time, and over long times things do go bad. Ive had shocks bought offline go bad before and offline usually means your on your own when something craps. Oh yeah they say warranty, but then real quick to put you off on the manufacturer. In the case of Monroe, every time Ive needed to replace one the parts house will just swap it out. Even Monroe, which has been around forever will honor it themselves as long as you have a receipt. I got the 4 From Advance out the door for $500, that included tax and shipping as they had to special order them. Originally almost $800 but they matched Rockauto's price on the exact same units.

I ended up going thru Amazon. Got the Monroe kit for $450. That is all 4 corners, F&R:

Amazon.com: Monroe 171370 Quick-Strut Complete Strut Assembly: Automotive

Monroe 171369 Quick-Strut Complete Strut Assembly : Amazon.com : Automotive

$450 not bad. Probably would have went amazon route if I could a found them there when I was searching. But The one thing I Like about the path I chose and well worth $50 piece of mind. If I have any problems out of mine at all, I remove, take to advance and they replace no questions asked...got it done a week of so back but here are some pics. The ride is great in my opinion. And though I don't mind it one bit. After settling, the truck rides about 1" higher than it used to. I know this as prior to work it would barely squeak under my garage door with full air bags. After, door it would hit middle of luggage rack (had to adjust door to go up a bit further)
